I started working on it, I would say, maybe around March of this year. Could be wrong but, I've been working on it for soooo long and I'm not even halfway done (mainly cuz I'm a slow writer).

She was targeted by the Mafia as a traitor. Kyouka never wanted to be what she became. She hated what she was, what she did, but could never find a way to leave. The truth was, she was far too valuable to the Mafia, a powerful asset, so they kept her on a tight leash. It wasn't a secret that she hated everything about them.

The appearance of Atsushi was both what saved her and what shackled her even more. By that point, she was ready to die, subconsciously even aiming for it. But she quickly grew fond of Atsushi, a child who didn’t fully understand what was happening, and someone she watched deteriorate mentally over time. So she stayed. She cared for him.

But at some point, she hit a wall. Atsushi knew she never wanted to be there. She had talked about it often, about how she wished she could have a normal life. And when she decided that Atsushi had grown enough, that maybe she could finally make choices for herself, she tried to leave. She went on the run.

And she failed.

Kyouka was tracked down and killed. Atsushi only managed to arrive in time to hear her last words.

The only reason she was not killed in the usual Mafia way was because she was too strong to be taken down easily.

So TLDR: Kyouka was killed for trying to escape the Mafia. She was seen as a traitor.
