—Final Fantasy VI PlayStation esper section "Heal Horn"- Interesting enough, the unicorn's special was either its name or just "heal horn" so there is no alternative name for it (as far as i know anyway). Given its interesting past you'd think it would do more in the game other than just remove status ailments, but then again a lot of summons in that game was watered down.

One of the first times i drew the phoenix i remember showing it my grand-aunt and she said it reminded her of the double-headed bird from Germany. Not sure if a double-headed eagle is associated with Germany but whatever. I noticed that the Phoenix seems to have a human-like torso in the FF games. I like the idea of the Phoenix being almost man-sized and having a human like a shape to it.

This is Starlet / Lakshmi doing Group Hug/ Alluring Embrace I redrew her because the last one I did was years ago, and I felt I could do a better job. She has to be the most drawn Esper I ever did, simply because she was the first one in the booklet.

"Holy Aura" / "Life Guard" Depending on which version of FF6 you played. The only Espers i got around to "finishing" was Starlet and Kirin, the rest remained in a sketch book somewhere in my closet. I had a hard time drawing Kirin. Im not used to drawing fish scales and had to do them over and over again until I felt comfortable with the results.

Probably need some sort of explanation behind this one. So, Traditionally a Siren is a daughter of one of the Muses and a river/ sea god. They are depicted as half beautiful woman, and half seabird, hence the seagull wings. But why does my Siren have mermaid legs? Well, when I was a lad, way back when, i saw a picture of a Rennaissance picture of some sort, showing the Sirens trying to seduce Odyessus with fish like legs and the image stuck in my head. This picture is sort of a remake of an old color pencil sketch I no longer have within my possession. I like the idea of the Siren being some sort of beautiful monstrous beast, partly made of divine beauty and part monster.

"Thors Hammer" or "Areospark" Ixion is a higher level Esper found in the Thunder Cave in FF6...... .....Ok, ok, Ixion is not an Esper, but rather an Aeon that takes Ramuh's role in Ff10. But why is he here then? Well, it all started when Serge and I were at Cracker Barrel. I pointed out that Ixion had a bottle opener shaped Horn, and then I suddenly had the urge to draw him as my belated "Junicorn" entry. But here he is as a bonus extra "esper".  There are two versions of this picture because I didn't like the original and did it over again. Yet, people seem to love the original- go figure. 

"A powerful djinn with control over scorching flames hot enough to turn the whole world to ashes." —Dissidia Final Fantasy Summon Compendium "Hell fire/ Inferno" depending on which version of the game you played I always like the Ifrit, Shiva, Ramuh trio in the Ff games. Ifrit was always the masculine male fire to Shiva's fem woman ice. Normally he was seen as being slightly more powerful than Shiva but ever since 8, Shiva was one of the only things that could defeat him. I went with idea of making Ifrit "sexy" to balance out the idea that Shiva was attractive. Also "traditionally" (if you can call anything that FF does to traditional) Ifrit has green skin and purple hair. Not sure why i went with the red, it just felt right. I also gave him feline like attributes- i couldn’t give him hooves- it just felt cheesy

"The Empress of ice wreathed in frost. She is known for her signature move, 'Diamond Dust', which freezes everything in an instant." Diamond/ Gem Dust" Depending on which game you played. Shiva has always been a fan favorite of mine, and though she is supposed to be based on 6, I designed her after 9.

Chaos Wave/ Wing Maduin is one of the few summons that plays a direct impact to the plot line in the Final Fantasy series. Because of this, he doesn't appear in other installments. I think he shows up in Final Fantasy World, but mostly in his relationship to his daughter Terra. Which is a shame as cus i think he's cool. Terra apparently will do "Chaos wave" in Dissidia, as well as some other boss characters in other games. I drew Maduin facing forward to symbolize how he's different than the other espers in so much that he believes that humans and espers can coexist

Ramuh, the Elder Justiciar... His anger calls forth thunderclouds as dark as a winter night, which deadly bolts dispense justice with the greatest of efficacy. —Eidolon Library "Judgement Bolt/ Bolt Fist" Ramuh (which i pronounce Ram-oo) Is one of my favorite recurring summons in the FF series. when I was a kid, i noticed that the same lightning effects animation he did in FF6 was very similar to the "Lightning 2" effects in Chronotigger. In any case, I'm torn on this picture, but I'm torn on all the Espers I've been drawing.
