Oh Daisy,
You are so beautiful!
I found you the other day
In the park, blooming all by yourself
And your beauty, astounding
Impossible to look away
But tell me, dear
Why is a delicate flower
Such as yourself
Doing in a place like this?
There’s no one here
That can admire you
As much as I do
Me, there is only me
Only I am capable of loving you
Admiring you, idolizing you
And this holy blade I carry
Is going to free you
Calm down, dear
It will hurt just a little
I do it for your own good
Because, remember, I am the only one truly capable
of loving you
Trust me
It’s better this way,
I only do what’s best for you
So as I say, my sharp blade
Tears you apart
In a merciful act
And now your sap
Slides smoothly
Sparkling, delicate
Embracing your velvety stem
Dear Daisy, can’t you see
How much of a blessing is my presence?
Can you imagine all the wicked things that would happen
If it wasn’t for me watching over you?
Shush now, everything is okay
You are safe in this vase
As I put you in display, so pleasing to see
To idolize, only for me
The days have passed
Why did you do this to yourself?
Why did you do this to me?
Your appearance, once exuberant
Is now corrupted
Oh Daisy,
You were so beautiful!
Tell me, Daisy
Why do you rot?
Can’t you see I gave you everything?
A vase, a home
My support, my love
And even after all
How dare you wither?
Your petals, once vibrant
Have fallen, faded
Your scent, once heady
Now is just a memory
No, Daisy
This is not my fault
You are the one that didn’t appreciate my love
And tell me, Daisy
Now what?
What is left for me?
A dry stem
So fragile that a simple touch
It crumbles to pieces,
To a small remnant of you
A fraction of the memory of what you once were
Farewell, Daisy!
Your body spoiled
Go live with the rats
That’s what you deserve
You ungrateful brat
And now here I am
At the park, once again
Looking for another flower
That will deserve my love again

Just watched Nosferatu (2024) last friday and had a great time. In a way, it was what I expected from a Eggers movie, but I also feel like it gave me a lot to think about in the realm of vampire media, monsters as metaphors from evil, adaptation and societal fears.
