Leverage Redemption Season 3 Trailer!

Premiering 17th April

my hobby is imagining various angles on marginal characters figuring out what the deal is with chrisjen and bobbie: 

(1) ashanti avasarala: she hears ‘bobby’ and thinks of someone who looks like stanley tucci. it’s cute, her mom has a crush on someone who… she doesn’t really know because she wasn’t really listening, calls to her mother are time to catch up on housework—maybe he’s martian military? risqué! anyway it sounds like he’s sweet to her and also doesn’t take her crap, so that’s nice to know about. glad she has a nice little thing going on there. ‘oh, he’s going to come work for you? that’s lovely for you mom, talk to you tuesday.’ maybe at some point she notices she’s got the pronouns wrong which is interesting (good for you, mom!) but she’s still picturing basically stanley tucci. and then she finds this fuckin. amazon queen ten years her junior in her mom’s living room who just extends a hand and says ‘bobbie draper, ma’am’ and she thinks she needs to go home and call her therapist

(2) talissa kamal: so it turns out this marine isn’t an alex apologist, she’s a pretty good listener actually and a nice person, easy to get on with, good for an occasional-drink kind of friendship. talissa hears ‘christian’ and thinks ‘square-jawed white boy’ and it’s a little sad that magnificent bobbie won’t shut up about some earther bro who probably can’t appreciate her, so she just kind of tunes most of it out, she doesn’t want to project her own shit onto this guy who’s probably perfectly all right and you know, bobbie’s had a rough time, some pancake of a man might be a nice respite for her, who’s talissa to judge, and then one day melas grabs her and goes ‘mom look! bobbie’s on tv!’ and. sweet merciful mother of jesus there she is. standing next to the fucking secretary-general of the united nations. and talissa just. faints

(3) as always, the low-level functionaries of avasarala’s office. just sittin there with their spreadsheets goin man, she sure does send some… private communiqués to… the martian fleet. haha weird! also uh, that’s a lot of… like a lot of money… being sent through… private accounts…. to… mars?? *sweating* is the secretary-general a traitor? has she been a martian operative all along??? or is she playing the martians too???? is she some kind of deep-state superleader who’s going to sell them all out to an alien species????? and then bobbie rocks up on the moon and they all take one look at her and simultaneously go ‘oh thank god, it’s a sex thing!’ 

Just now realizing that the reason Woodman Gault recognized Sophie in the beginning of The Frame-up Job is because he’s seen Ma Mystere.

Then I’d say you skipped 2x02 and 2x05 and 2x09 and 2x17 and 2x22 and 3x11 at the very least, in just the first two and a half seasons.

I can understand why some people might not like Regina, even though personally I love her, but she loves Henry, and she proves it over and over and over and over again. Seriously, the writers really hammered it home, and if you missed that, I’m sorry but you’re just inventing more reasons to hate her.

2x02 - she lets him choose who to live with, and when it isn’t her, she respects his choice

2x05 - she gives up magic and goes to therapy to be better for him

2x09 - she undoes the death curse, despite the fact that her mother, who she is terrified of might come through, because Henry asked

2x17 - she destroys the spell that would let her keep him forever because he asks

2x22 - she slows the trigger at the cost of her own life so that he can have his family (because let’s be real, she doesn’t really care about anyone else in the town yet)

3x11 - she gives him up forever (or at least she thinks forever) to stop Pan’s Curse, and gives him and Emma a lifetime of memories so that they’ll be happy

I would like to nominate this post for ‘Most Impressive Failure to Get The Point’

Like, seriously, what??? The whole meaning of the play is that it’s a commentary on the inherent injustice in society and the choice we all face in that injustice society: to sacrifice our morality in order to be accepted or to sacrifice our relationships and reputation in order to stand up for what’s right. It was originally meant to represent Antisemitism, which is part of reason the first person to play Elphaba (Idina Menzel) was Jewish, but Cynthia Erivo isn’t Jewish, so the rhetoric shifted to match the cast. The second half makes that divide even more obvious and shows how the people in power use their position to vilify people who try to point out the unfairness of the system. It’s meant to make us reflect on our own society and consider who might be the Elphabas (people who are vilified for speaking out) in real life. Not to mention the fact that, yeah it DOESN’T have a fix, because we still haven’t figured out how to fix our system in real life, so for now, what we need to do is take the first step: RECOGNIZING that unfairness, which is what the play is meant to help do.

And as far as Glinda only treating Elphaba well when Elphaba did something good for her, Elphaba did the exact same thing, only helping Glinda when she thought Glinda had done something nice for her and her sister, Nessa. The whole point is that they were both standoffish to begin with, and- cycling back to the first half of this post- everyone sided with Glinda (and later the Wizard) because of the inherent unfairness of the system. Their friendship is meant to show that once we get past our initial biases and realize that we aren’t each others’ enemies, we can accomplish far more. Of course the play is somewhat tragic and they make different choices when exposed to The Problem that end up forcing them apart, so they could never have ended happily, but the point is that they didn’t HAVE to be enemies.

TLDR: the racism is the whole freaking point.

Ok, hear me out… I liked episode 8 but not 9.

Spoilers ahead.

I loved episode 8. Agatha agreeing to trade Billy for herself and manipulating him to get what she wanted then changing her mind at the last second bc he brought up her son lowkey fits and also shows how much like Agatha Billy is bc the whole ‘Is this how Nicky died’ moment was clear manipulation. Agatha not wanting to see Rio made sense to me, their relationship reads like one I’ve had in the past, where neither of us really liked each other (see episode 1/8), but when we spent any time with together, we fell back into old habits (see episode 4/5/6). Plus the Agathario kiss was fantastic.

9 on the other hand was confusing. I liked that the Road was a con, but other than that I just felt like I was missing most of the story. Nicky was cute, but that’s about it. And what was the difference between Agatha killing witches with Nicky and after he died? Like was killing witches keeping Nicky alive? And if so why not state that at any point? And as fun as Ghost Agatha is, there is literally no benefit to being a ghost so why would Agatha choose that? It felt like they were trying to downplay Billy’s manipulation of her to keep him ‘innocent’. Like, commit to Billy being amoral already, instead of trying to pass off all the bad stuff he does as accidents or Agatha’s fault. Interested to see where this goes in future projects.

This was an excellent episode for Rio…

(Spoilers below)

Definitely starting to think that theory about Rio being death is beginning to add up. Between “kill all the witches around you” as though she herself isn’t one, “I get my bodies” which is self explanatory, and Agatha’s “Don’t” which sounded less like the command towards Lilia and a lot more like a plea (like to maybe not take her son again), I’m definitely feeling like Rio and Agatha were lovers until Agatha’s son died (maybe Darkhold related, maybe not) and Rio took him from her. The whole scar speech lines up with this, too.

Plus the very near kiss has also begun to convince me this might not be queerbaiting after all. You never know with Disney though.

I’m super excited for next week!

Biggest problem with modern politics: there aren’t any Chosen Ones. Seriously. Governments in stories are almost always terrible, at least to start out with, but it’s okay, because by the end things get better. The corrupt advisors die, one of the heroes takes the throne, the Ministry acknowledges Voldemort is back, etc. But irl there’s nothing stronger than the government, yk. It’s shit because there’s just nothing that can change or overthrow the system and the system sucks. So yeah, I want a Chosen One.

The new 2nd assistant needed something for Miranda and she ended up getting help from Andy who travels and is very protective of her backpack and later helps them translate because she apparently knew the guy and his family so she shames him and says she's gonna tell his mother.
