it's kinda funny how nobody thinks you're a fundamentally evil sicko for like. enjoying media where characters kill each other in honestly pretty awful ways constantly. like that's just Normal Media Consumption to most people
I nearly had a heart attack earlier while I was biking because I saw a black blob floating midair. I had to do a doubletake and realised it was a bird. I though I was going crazy until I walked past it and saw that it was sitting on a clothsline lol
this goddamn bird nearly made me crash into a ditch
fireheart: look i know he seems like a normal kit, but LISTEN he looks like his murderous father!! that means he’s got his father’s dark personality and he will definitely turn out like him. i mean look at his EYES!! there’s death in his eyes (•᷄- •᷅ ;)
bramblekit: *is a literal baby*
everything looks like a nail when you've got a hammer and every song is actually about the character when they're on your mind 24/7
hey guys have you ever heard of THE CHARACTER. i’m thinking about THE CHARACTER. honestly can’t even get shit done because i’m thinking about THE CHARACTER. i’m listening to a song and imagining THE CHARACTER. all i know and love is THE CHARACTER
i made this version of that popular cake meme as a love letter to my favourite artists, writers, editors etc who keep making content about my favourite characters/ship
ermm
I LOVE YALL!!!!!!!!
DEATH IS A ONE WAY STREET BUT THAT DIDN'T STOP ME FROM COMMITTING ONE HELL OF A TRAFFIC VIOLATION
Animation practice with Tigerclaw! I've been really exhausted lately so my favorite evil kitty gets to suffer along with me :)
He's making fun of Tigerstar for being so bad at trying to kill him
He's mad because he sucks at killing Firestar
Hungarian swords, 14th century, at the Topkapi Palace Museum in Istanbul. The middle sword is 8ft long
He's mad because he sucks at killing Firestar
unfortunately no eclipse photography can ever outdo the waffle house one from 2017
this is how i feel about any Warriors character
important spotfur facts to remember
I see this a lot, so I want to say something about it. You don't need to add a disclaimer onto your opinions regarding antagonists.
When you say, "I like Tigerstar, even though he's xenophobic, and a facist,"
Try this instead, "I like Tigerstar," Then, list what you liked about him.
i could fix him (referring to my old design)
hes lynxcore now ok?
Hey look, slightly more context to This Post!
It's still a very out of context animation WIP I've been working on, but I PROMISE I'll spill all the beans sooner or later.
i just think itd be funny if kittypets were a little more familiar to twoleg things such as: cars and bad words
I did a kinda shitty redraw of a panel from the wc graphic novel (I just wanted to get some more practice in with my markers)
Tigerclaw's face got a little smudged 'Cause my markers have a habit of being very wet :/
The original panel:
Sorry for how blurry the photos are
Alrighty. Another long post, this time it's about Firestar's relationships! I'm not gonna talk about every single dynamic he had with another character. It'll, 1, just be from the first arc, and 2, the ones that are notable for me. So you're not stuck waiting, here's a list of all the characters i'll discuss :
Smudge, Princess, Graystripe, Ravenpaw, Sandstorm, Dustpelt, Bluestar, Spottedleaf, Yellowfang, Tigerstar, Longtail, Cinderpelt, Cloudtail, Brambleclaw. Spoiler warning if you haven't read The Prophecies Begin. Let's get started! :)
I wish we got more with Smudge. Literally, this dude just existed to remind Firestar why Clan life is so "great" and kittypet life is so "bad". He could've been the cat Firestar visited alongside Princess. Or maybe, he'll be near the neighborhood where Princess lives, and Firestar can visit them both! Or maybe he should've been the one that to go to SkyClan! He had the dream, right? So why didn't he go? I wish we got more with him
I like to think that as kittens, they beat each other up. And when one of them gets an ouchie, they run whining to Nutmeg. 'Mamaaaa! Rusty hit me!' 'Mama! She hit me first!' of course, they mature growing up. Of course, of course, siblings in fiction don't always need to want to maul each other. But i like the idea. It's funny. It's fine if you don't, though. One thing i dislike is how much Firestar...belittles Princess? I don’t know if that's the right word, and also i might be harsh, but hear me out. Whenever he talks to her, he always thinks 'Princess is a kittypet. She'll never understand how hard Clan life is.' which is...contradictory and a bit hypocritical? I don’t know what was up with that, but i hated it. Fun fact, it was Princess who figured out that Cinderpelt's accident was a trap. Not Firestar. Princess.
Graystripe, Firestar’s first bro. I have mixed feelings on Graystripe. On one hand, as a character, he's interesting. But also, as a person (Girl, he's a cat-) he's not that great. And that's great for a character. But his dynamic with Firestar isn't the best. He kept neglecting his duties and arguably, his friend too, and is surprised when his loyalty is questioned. It's even worse when he has an apprentice to train, and that’s left up to Fireheart too. Yet, at the same time, Fireheart kept berating Graystripe for breaking the Warrior Code and yet he breaks it too by visiting Princess. I know it's not the same, but it's technically considered breaking the Warrior Code regardless. In "Fire and Ice", i wanted a scene where Graystripe finds out about Fireheart's visits with Princess. And with Fireheart trying to justify it. But Graystripe's not taking it, and says something like "You either stop visiting your sister, or keep doing so, but leave me and Silverstream alone."
And then Fireheart goes, "So let me get this straight ; if i agree to stop visiting Princess, will that mean you also agree to stop seeing Silverstream?" just imagine it! I wanna write it...
Firestar’s better bro. In my opinion, Firestar had a better bromance with Ravenpaw than he did Graystripe. One thing i wanted to know about (and it's probably in the manga, idk-) is what he thought of Firestar. Like, he ran into camp, tried telling everyone about what he witnessed, faint, wake up in the medicine den, and see his friend, along with a stranger. Another thing i would've liked to see is a conversation between Ravenpaw and Firepaw about kittypet life and Clan life. It might show why Firepaw left (bonus points if he misses his life, regrets it a little because of the fact he left Smudge and Princess-) and also see how Ravenpaw might or might be unhappy in ThunderClan. It's not that Clan life is a problem for him, just how he feels unsafe because of a certain kitty. I wanna write that too...
The classic 'rivals to lovers' that we all know and love. With this one, not so much. Now romance isn't a cup of tea for me, but if it's a part of the series, then i have to read about it. One of the most important things in writing a relationship, in my opinion, is giving both characters equal development. Sandstorm and Firestar, while healthy and strong, is...i don't know the word for it. One sided? I'm not saying one of them isn't reciprocating their feelings to the other. Just, Firestar is (kinda) developed and it focuses more on him for some reason. Sandstorm is mind-blowingly underdeveloped. Now, before it got retconned, Brindleface and Redtail were her parents. Wanna know a funny coincidence? Tigerstar killed them both. So, Sandstorm had more reason than Bluestar herself to despise having to breathe the same air as that sadistic tyrant. "But it was retconned!" fine, she's adopted. I would like to reimagine and rewrite Sandstorm's whole character but we would be here all day.
Another rivalry. But they became...friends after a while? How? What sparked it? Throughout the series, Firestar tried to be kind to Dustpelt. Telling Bluestar that he and Sandstorm fought like warriors, giving Dustpelt an apprentice, and also, giving Squirrelflight, Firestar's daughter, to Dustpelt. So are they rivals or are they pretending and are friends? Maybe the brother-kind of friends? Hate each other's guts but would defend the other and help each other kind of bromance? I like to imagine them going to each other either to, have a roast battle, talk smack about others, or comfort each other and give each other advice. They're frenemies. And i love that.
Ah, good ol' Bluestar. The one that basically adopted him into her Clan. Wise, just, fair, and attentive. There isn't that much that i wanted out of her. Her breakdown was interesting. But she kept confusing me. Does she care about her Clan or not? She knows that following the warrior code is following the will of StarClan, right? Or is it because of the rule 'a leader's word is law'? Does it still apply when said leader's law is against the warrior code? Stop it! We're not gonna have an existential crisis today! I'd like to think that Bluestar saw Oakheart inside of Firestar. She literally named him after her husband. Another thing that's interesting is how Bluestar and Firestar parallel each other. Fire and water. Maybe it would've been more interesting if they resembled and represented that motif? What i mean is Firestar, while kind-hearted, is fierce and possibly dangerous, bonus points if he was also short-tempered (but then we would get a Lionblaze??). In Bluestar’s words, he has the warmth of fire to be kind and compassionate, and the fierce-ness of fire to be protective and dangerous if played with. I wanted Bluestar to also resemble water. Calm, fluid, wise, powerful, and lively. And she does represent that, somewhat. (before her downspiral, but maybe that's part of it. Sadness? Depression? Idk. I wanna know what water symbolizes/resembles/represents. I'm curious now.) Maybe i'll have more to say on Bluestar when i read her Super Edition.
Another mother of Firestar. She literally confessed wishing to StarClan countless times that Firestar was her son instead of Brokenstar. It was extremely wholesome to see how she slowly warmed up to Firestar and ThunderClan. One thing i'm curious about if Spottedleaf didn't die, would Yellowfang still be a warrior or be a medicine cat? Teamwork between Spottedleaf and Yellowfang would've been interesting. One thing i liked the main series would've touched on is her ability to feel others' pain. Imagine the fact that she felt Brokenstar's agonizing death, knowing that she's the cause of it. God! Let's get back to the 'Fire vs Water' thing from earlier for a second. Fun fact, with Yellowfang and Bluestar paralleling each other so much, one of those parallels include their causes of death being opposite each other. Fire and water. And they also represent what killed them, i already said about Bluestar. Yellowfang is feisty, snappy, wise, knowledgeable, powerful, compassionate and empathetic. Like Bluestar, i might have more to say if i read Yellowfang’s Secret.
(i hate this pic so much-)
Ah, Spottedleaf, Spottedleaf. I hate the ship between her and Firestar. I hate it a lot. And i like Spottedleaf. But i despise their ship! What would've worked better is either a third mom figure for Firestar or a big sister figure. Worst part, she apparently...reciprocates it? Not like 'uuuuuuhhh, this child has a crush on me. I'm not sure this is okay.' instead, she seems to love him back? I don't want to point fingers on just one of them since i don't know which is worse. Spottedleaf for pining after him for so long even after she told him to cat marry Sandstorm. Even after he had kits, and grandkits. Or if it's Firestar’s fault for never letting go and moving on. What made him love her that much anyway? He barely knew her! Was she that pretty and her scent that good? I seriously don't understand. It would've been better if she acted like a big sister to him, or if Firestar just...i don't know, moved on?
Firestar's greatest enemy as they say. I have mixed feelings on Tigerstar and how his character was handled. I might need to read Bluestar’s Prophecy and Tigerclaw's Fury to try and understand him more but i seriously do not get this cat. I don't know where be stands. He's just a 'grrrr, I hate kittypets. My father left me. My mentor trained me harshly. I want to be the most powerful cat in the forest.' kind of like Firestar, he feels like he just exists to serve the plot and not much else. It's fine if not a lot about him is revealed. Less is more, as they say. But nothing at all is worse in my opinion. I would've liked something at least. His relationship with Leopardfoot for one. Now that's canon Tigerstar. I have other plans for him though. There was this animation meme i saw where Tigerstar was Firepaw's mentor instead of Bluestar and i loved that. Maybe have Tigerstar as Firestar’s mentor, and even be a father figure. Tigerstar starts warming up to Firestar. Just imagine that, at first, all Tigerstar saw was an over-exciting, naïve, inexperienced kittypet, maybe even remind him of his no-good dad if ya wanna be angsty. But slowly start seeing Firestar as Firestar and not as a reminder of his failure of a father. I wanna write that too. I wanna write a lot of stuff.... Is that gonna be a problem?

(from this point i can't put more artworks since it has reached the 10-pic limit-thingie. Dumb limits >:( )
Look, i am of the opinion that Longtail is best boi. Sure, he bullied Firestar when he first came, but i would like to think they became friends after a while. Longtail literally saved him for God's sake! Another thing is that when he saw Tigerstar in Snakerocks, he tried to tell Fireheart, but Fireheart accused him of a traitor. But Longtail didn't stop and tried to tell Whitestorm. I would've liked his reaction to seeing Darkstripe be accused of attempted murder and then be exiled. We could've had some angst! Longtail being shocked that both his friends were psychotic, sadistic traitorous killers, be afraid to make new friends in fear of being betrayed again, but slowly make friends in Dustpelt, sharing the experience of being the only cats close to both Tigerstar and Darkstripe, and maybe even Firestar. I vote Longtail for deputy instead of Graystripe.
They literally adopted each other as siblings. One thing i hated is how 'Oh, Cinderpelt has three working legs now instead of four! She'll never be a warrior!' when...three-legged cats exist (Deadfoot, deputy of WindClan, three-legged cat, would like a word with Erin Hunter-) Heck, two-legged cats exist. I'm talking about the cats born without front legs or back legs. Or cats that have lost them. Of course, some precautions should be taken, and she'll have it a teensy bit harder. But saying it's impossible for her to be a warrior is stupid. Maybe Firestar thinks, 'hmm...how can a three-legged cat be a warrior?' and then he tries it himself. Not saying he goes and gets his leg run over, but maybe try not using one of his legs. Of course, instinct will take over and he'll be using four again instinctively. So maybe he goes and asks Deadfoot, and maybe brings Cinderpelt along. He's a three-legged cat too, and he's the deputy! And then make it clear that Cinderpelt chooses to be a medicine cat instead of a warrior. "But she did choose to be a medicine cat!" then pray tell why was she given a 'second chance' at life and she accepted?? I love Cinderpelt, but God, the reincarnation thing is so stupid!
Firestar's troublesome nephew. For me, Cloudtail is a hit or miss. One moment, he's stupid, the next, you agree with him. Maybe Cloudtail's mentally dense but emotionally intelligent? I don't know. His parallels with Firestar is pretty interesting. A kittypet, chosing Clan life and another kittypet, having Clan life chosen for him. I don’t know, but i don't think it was fair for Princess to give Cloudtail to Firestar before Cloudtail even opened his eyes. Like...why did she pick Cloudtail? What of her other kits? Sure, you can argue they were going to be taken away anyway, but there should've been at least one left with her. Did she think it's okay to give out her kit to a dangerous, potentially deadly life? Did she even think this thro- anyway, before i go crazy. Last three things i wanna say is how adorable he was as a kit. When he first learned about the deathberries, first thing he did was warn Ashkit and Fernkit about it! "Now, these red berries may look tasty, but they're very, very, very bad! It will kill you if you eat it! So be very, very, very careful!" Cloudtail was adorable as a kitten. Another thing i wanted to point out is how when Firestar was coming back to life after being killed, Cloudtail was fighting Scourge. I thought that was adorable. Another thing that's adorable is his relationship with Brightheart. As much as i would have liked for Brightheart to have had her own moments Cloudtail kept supporting and loving her. Their relationship is sweet, but again, wish Brightheart had more independent moments.
I liked the parallels between them. (i like parallels in general. I have said it a lot- god, why am i redundant?) One is a kittypet that was outcast and doesn't feel like he belongs in the Clan for being non-Clanborn. The other is a Clanborn that was outcast and doesn't feel like he belongs in the Clan for being the son of a traitor. Even by the kittypet, who out of everyone, should've understood what it felt like to be shunned out for something you didn't have a choice in, it being who your parents are or where you were born in. Yet Firestar can't unsee Tigerstar's eyes in Bramblekit. And while his treatment of Bramblekit was unfair and irrational. But you can't expect someone to always be rational or always be right. One of the things i was upset with Firestar about is continuing to see Tigerstar in Brambleclaw, even naming him after him! Brambleclaw should've had his own character besides being Tigerstar's son. And maybe he is and i'm overlooking it? Who knows. You can have the 'my father is a monster and i'm trying my best to prove to everyone that i'm not like him' philosophy be part of the character, not the whole thing. I think Brambleclaw's name should be 'Bramblelight'. Light being the opposite of shadow, and with Bramblepaw having lived most of his life in his father's shadow, deserves to have some light shed on him as Bramblepaw, not as Tigerstar's son.
Alright, this was long enough. If you made it this far, thank you for your patience! Have a great day/night!
!!!
I finally got the second wc graphic novel lat night! Honestly, having to wait a week to get it was definitely worth it :D
Being self aware is so fucking funny. "This is a coping mechanism." "I'm lying to myself by the way." "Believe me, what I'm doing is so fucking unhealthy." then I don't fix any of it
Me while writing: oh hell yes this is such a good sentence I'm the master of poetic imagery
