Basic Story Structure

Basic story structure looks like this:

Setup/Exposition - we meet the protagonist in their every day life, possibly meet a few other important characters, and learn important basics about the setting. We also learn about the protagonist’s internal conflict.

Rising Action - The inciting incident turns the character’s life upside down, the character responds by forming a goal. The protagonist pursues this goal while the antagonist/antagonistic force throws obstacles into their path, which they must overcome. Sometimes they succeed, sometimes they fail and have to try again or find a way around it. This struggle builds the conflict and increases the tension as the story races toward the climax.

Climax - this is the “big showdown,” where the protagonist faces the antagonist/antagonistic force head-on, and usually (but not always) succeeds.

Falling Action - this is the aftermath of the big showdown, where the dust settles and all the final pieces come to rest. Most of the story’s loose ends will be tied up here if they weren’t tied up already.

Resolution/Denouement - this is where the story is wrapped up once and for all. We see the protagonist (and other characters) settled back in their old life or getting used to a new normal. If there is a moral to the story, it is revealed here. If the story is leading into a second book, a little bit of set-up for the new story will occur here.

Earwig y la bruja- Opinión

Me gustaría hablar un poco de esta nueva película del Studio Ghibli y quizás compartir mi opinión de que tal fue.

La historia está tomada de un libro con el mismo titulo de la escritora Diana Wayne Jones, misma autora del libro del que surgió "El castillo vagabundo" del Studio Ghibli (Me pareció interesante agregar que esta mujer fue aprendiz de C. S. Lewis -Creador de Narnia- y de J. R. R. Tolkien -Creador del señor de los anillos).

Esta película fue dirigida por Goro Miyazaki, además de ser la primera película del estudio con un estilo de animación en 3d, lo que marcó el comienzo de una nueva generación.

A pesar de las críticas que recibió la compañía por el cambio de estilo, he de admitir que la animación me pareció preciosa, el diseño de los espacio y los personajes fue preciosa y los personajes pudieron continuar siendo tan expresivos a pesar del cambio.

No pienso que el cambio de animación sea algo negativo, yo lo veo más como algo de adaptación, están ampliando sus recursos y experimentando con nuevas herramientas; yo solo espero que esto no signifique el fin de la animación 2d, ya que opino que este estilo de arte todavía tiene mucho que ofrecer.

Ya hablando mas concretamente de la película, me gustó muchísimo la película, tiene personajes muy interesantes como Mandrake, además el largometraje continuó ofreciéndonos el mismo humor y estilo que el estudio lleva teniendo durante tanto años.

Cabe resaltar que en esta película en particular hay una banda sonora bastante pegadiza y divertida que le da un buen toque a la obra.

.Ahora sin embargo, hay personajes poco trabajados, como Thomas, el cual no hace la gran cosa dentro de la película, y bueno, también está lo que la mayoría de personas (por no decir todas) opinaron de la película, y es como nos deja el final.

Al terminar el filme se queda con una sensación de inconcluso, como si hubiera faltado un pedazo de la cinta, como si hubiera quedado inacabada, es indiscutible que esto le dió un mal toque a la película.

Pero aún a pesar de esto quiero decir que me parece que fue una buena película, aunque pudo haber sido mejor, pero para ser el comienzo de una nueva generación de cineastas, me parece un buen comienzo y espero con ansias que será lo próximo que nos van a presentar.
