I'm still holding out for an additional 6v6 mode, like the open queue competitive option.
It's a rabbit hole ladies and gentlemen ;-;
hello friends i come bearing more dvattra content
Props to Tom Beansons for going the extra mile and getting coffee making hands 😚
The 2021 Archives event took place from April 6th to April 27th.
Like the event last year, we did not get a new brawl. Instead we got three more mission modifiers:
Bulletproof Barriers, is pretty self explanatory. the barriers are bulletproof. Sympathy gains, damaging the enemy heals the enemies around them. (I think I erased this archives even from my memory I'm not gonna lie...) and then Thunderstorm, enemies damage all nearby players. I honestly can't remember if that means the player is damaged from being in the proximity of the enemy, or if the enemy's damage acts like's mercy's ultimate and spreads from character to character.
Well...
At least the skins managed to make a come back this year. Like the first three years, this year they decided to stick to an actual theme, which I think personally works a lot better than just making random skins like they did in 2020.
Once again, we only got 5 skins, but, these skins are great. I think at first glance, they're visually appealing, but then when you take a closer look, you realise that they're pretty historically accurate. Now, I'm no expert on Russian, Japanese, American or French history, (though I'm a bit more familiar with French history since it's so closely related to my own countries in certain periods). But surprise, surprise, they teach British history, in British schools, and boy, oh, boy, does that Tracer skin make me happy.
So, kudos to the design team for this one, amazing skins.
Finally, what you definitly were not waiting for, are the weekly challenges. Again, I'm fairly sure I have all these skins, but I think I've just erased it from my memory.
Well, apart from the Mercy skin, I use that one from time to time. But... honestly, making Zen a submarine? That's a unique choice, and the biker Lucio? Again... not really the look I would have pegged on him, but who am I to talk?
Conclusively, this year got slightly worse than last year, with the skins saving their ass pretty much. But you know what they say, quiet whilst you're ahead, and that's what Blizzard did, because this was the last Archives event. Well done, Blizzard, you got rid of your best event. Bravo.
Satisfying Sombra pick :)

Links to the Youtube Origin stories in Chronological order of hero release <3
Most of the base Roster doesn't have an origin story, but there is this short for Roadhog and Junkrat:
It's not in the same format as the rest of the origin stories that follow, but it's the closest thing that resembles an origin story for them.
Soldier 76 is obviously one of the outliers of this standard (being Blizzards golden boy and all I suppose), and I'm fairly sure his was the first origin story put together in this format:
Another of these outliers is none other than the poster girl herself, which I guess makes sense:
That's all the base roster got, and the following origin stories all belong to heroes that we released after the release of the game.
First of, Ana came out in July of 2016:
Then followed Sombra in November of 2016:
Orisa in March of 2017:
Doomfist in July of 2017:
Moira in November of 2017:
Brigitte in March of 2018:

Assult Maps/2 CP
2 CP is now in the arcade and I couldn't be happier (that's a lie put them in comp and I'd be happier) because they're so much fun! It makes me miss Ow1 though 💔
The third Archives event took place in 2019, it started on April 16th and finished on May 6th.
May I present to you, all the cinematics for the new brawl that was introduced in this event, Storm Rising:
Not only is this cinematic absolutely amazing, but it also introduces us to two well known characters for the first time, Sojourn and Ramantra.
The brawl itself follows an Overwatch mission, with the agents, Tracer, Winston, Genji and Mercy as the playable cast. The mission is to apprehend a talon executive, Maximillian. They chase him throughout the map of Havana, which was also introduced at the same time as this brawl.
We also got some banger skins during this event:
I religiously use Deadlock McCree, Talon Baptiste and Formal Soldier, like they are my religion. They're just amazing skins. Socialite Ashe and Scientist Moira are also great skins and I use them regularly.
I find it quiet easy to forget the point of the posts I'm writing at the time, so before I forget, let's just compare how many legendries that is when put alongside the last two events. So, in this 2019 event, we got 5 great skins, in the 2018 event we got 7 legendries, and in the 2017 event we got another 7. There's a little bit of a decline, but I don't really think it's dramatic. The skins we got in the 2019 event are a lot better quality than the 2017 skins and some 2018 skins as well. So, so far, they're keeping up on that.
All in all, 2019 was a brilliant Achieves event, with great skins, a new map, new characters introduced and a new brawl. I'd say we were fed pretty great that year.
I've played Overwatch for six years and I need mental help. 21. She/Her.
