My heart is broken, but my love for these characters, for the actors, will forever carry on.
This is for you dead boy detectives, may you rest in peace.
This is also for @local-limebug I'm sorry it took so long!
- Zaunites dying to help Piltover in battle while wearing enforcer uniforms, even though Piltover did nothing to earn it
- Silco, one of the few pro-Zaun/anti-Piltover characters from season 1, reduced into a mouthpiece for "forgiving those who wronged you" and letting go
- Jinx, one of the few anti-Piltover characters, becoming redeemed by sympathizing with Piltovians, being apologetic for killing Councilors, and feeling like she should die to allow her sister to be happy with her enforcer girlfriend
- Vi not having any problem with her Piltovian enforcer girlfriend gassing Zaun, and reduced to kneeling for Caitlyn's pussy in a prison cell, where she was locked for years as a child by an enforcer
- Jayce telling Viktor that his disease was never a weakness to be cured even though the disease was caused by Piltover polluting Zaun
- Ekko never calling out Heimerdinger's failings as a ruler nor Vi for joining the enforcers (even though he does in the game), and also risking all the Firelights' lives to help Piltover
- Sevika not having any lines in Act 3, never interacting with Jinx or reacting to Isha's death, and also risking her life to help Piltover, a decision which was made off screen
Overwhelmed by the thought that dbda may end one day. No more hope for any more seasons or episodes.
Like just the thought of DBDA finishing is so sjakabakakoansbakoqldnbdjsjsnsnnsn I genuinely cannot imagine it stopping.
I WANT IT TO CONTINUE TILL THE DAY I DIE. I WANT TO BE ON MY DEATHBED, WATCHING SEASON 30 FINALE.
I don't care if after season 4 ish the rest of the episodes are 2 minute long unreleased bloopers, I just need more payneland.
So respectfully, Netflix, RENEW DBDA
Guys if you've read up to here congrats on reaching the end of my dbda love letter/rant

every day should be Jayden Revri appreciation day, if you ask me. cue my favourite Charles gifs:
final gif by @mellxncollie
Jayden captured the duality of Charles perfectly: The boy he thinks he needs to be, and the boy he hides deep within himself. The boy who tries "to be extra happy for all of us" and the boy who "couldn't stop my dad from beating the shit out of me, no matter how good I was." The boy who fearlessly protects others, and the boy who couldn't protect himself. And it's all there in his eyes, all the pain and care and love. Jayden understands who Charles is and you can see it in every. single. frame.
Jayden is also the David Tennant of this show for how much the joy of playing Charles radiates from him, and the Michael Sheen of this show for how much he ships payneland. I love how much he loves the show and that he engages with the fandom, reminding us to not lose hope. He is the no.1 fan of the show and we love to see it!
And finally, I need to give a shout out to Jayden's incredible Charles playlist, because so many songs from that playlist have become so dear to me (Francesca, Family Line, Orpheus, Summer Child, The Mates of Soul) and I will forever cherish them not just for the beautiful songs they are but also for the connection to Charles and dead boy detectives. I already know that my wrapped this year will be dominated by them (and Swan Upon Leda, for Edwin) and I wouldn't want it any other way. Having a whole playlist to engage with and to deep dive into Charles' character was incredibly cool and I am so grateful to Jayden for sharing it with us.
Jayden Revri, you are a gem, and we are so so so lucky that you are our Charles forever.
You know when you see something that just makes sense?like an aha moment. Well this is it op is cracked at explaining such a complex and in depth storyline
so we all know edwin was in hell and charles was abused by his father. both were in horrible, violent situations, and neither deserved it. but i think the way they do (and do not) talk about their experiences are very revealing.
because, edwin brings up hell every five minutes. he plays the trauma olympics like a pro. and he's comfortable doing that because he knows he didn't deserve it. but he never talks about the actual details of went on in hell, only that it was absolutely awful. because though he is incredibly open about the fact that he went through a traumatic situation, he is very closed about the details of that traumatic situation. this is likely because he was raised in the edwardian era, and, well, people were hardly open about the details in their emotions at that time. and i think the fact that edwin never really talks about it means he's likely never really processed it. in the case of the light leapers, he sees a babydoll head in the gift shop and turns it around while visibly afraid. he has these residual, lingering fears, and they are never addressed, because he never actually addresses them. he has either fooled everyone around him into thinking that by mentioning hell, he is processing it, or charles is just so determined to be peppy that edwin is able to flit around, solving cases, while no one ever questions the depths of the impact hell had on him.
now, charles, on the other hand? you have to pry the fact that charles is traumatized out of his cold dead mouth. he will jump through all sorts of hoops, wave away all sorts of questionable comments, because he doesn't know he didn't deserve it. having an abusive parent is different from something traumatic happening to you. edwin has full confidence throughout the entire show that he does not deserve hell, that it is a clerical error. but charles? the person who is supposed to love and protect him at all costs is hurting him. and we know that he was physically abusive, but like, we don't know the details of what else went down, coz charles never talks about it. & charles never talks about it, and i'm gonna take a gander that it's likely because he is embarrassed and ashamed because he thinks he did something to deserve it. AND because charles feels this pressure to balance out edwin always talking about his trauma. so between the guilt from thinking being abused was his fault, & the guilt of bringing the group's morale down, charles absolutely never discusses his trauma. and, most of the time, that's ok, coz he's able to jump around from adventure to adventure without ever having to process his death.
edwin copes with being alone in his trauma for years by talking about it all the time in a casual manner, as if it's not properly a big deal. he doesn't have too much guilt attached to ending up in hell -he understands it was not his fault- and subsequently, is comfortable being open about it's existence.
charles copes with being abused by his father by hiding it away and pretending it didn't happen, because he has so much guilt and complicated feelings about it that he is not able to talk about it in a casual matter, and he thinks that, if he did, he would be judged for it.
does anyone wanna hold hands until we feel a little braver
