A lot of drama this month (Ratbriar seems to be unusually grumpy), but also some good news!

starting off with something silly! Sadly, Brightstar is not very fond of sillyness. In his opinion, Ravenspeckle really is too old for such a mistake.

The last traces of winter are finally gone as spring fully takes over. The good weather brings about good moods for the cats of Loudclan, and Dogwoodpaw often finds herself the center of attention during training as her mentor becomes more insistent that she accept her warrior name early.

Dogwoodmoth has earned her warrior name. She is honored for her thoughtfulness.

Later that night, while her sister sits her vigil over the camp, Rosehippaw sneaks out to visit the Black Water Pool.

Rosehippaw returns to camp, shaken by the experience, and questions what legacy she will leave behind when she's gone.

[Probably should have split this into 2 parts cause it's so long but I was so excited to draw the second part I couldn't stand to wait! I love the healer kits so much I want nothing bad to happen to them ever unfortunately things are not looking good in that respect. In better news, however, Dogwoodmoth is named in honor of Mothtree! Several asks suggested this and I thought it was cuter than her original name of "Dogwoodmulch" so congrats and thank you if you were one of them!]

is it weird that this comic gives “old Disney cartoon but fucked up and evil” to me? also what is Honeyspring’s gender… or is it secret

I wouldn't say it's weird! I started the blog with a few fake Disney-looking screencaps I whipped up of Bearface and Sweetkit for fun! I took some inspiration from how Disney draws cats since I was trying to find a relatively easy and expressive style for the comics.

Honeyspring is a female with they/her pronouns! I didn't intend to keep Honeyspring so tightly under wraps, so I'll include a little secret Honeyspring for those curious about their full appearance! <3

oh, god. did tanglefern try to do a sort of c-section on honeyspring when things went south? that slit on their belly looks a lot like a classical incision to me, and tanglefern's greatest mistake...this might be completely wrong so feel free to disregard!! obsessed with this blog right now, honeyspring what happened to you....

She was just so sick, and it was all so sudden. What else was there to be done? Nobody knows what struck Honeyspring ill so swiftly or with such brutal lethality, not even Tanglefern (but he is also a liar).

Desecration;

He wedged the cutter just under the skin, and pried the walls of her womb apart, glistening with watery wetness and slick with blood. Fluids sunk into the dirt flooring of the medicine den, reeking of disease, but Tanglefern pushed forward. He was not gentle, but he did not have to be. They knew that when she took that last heaving breath not even an hour ago, she was gone.

There was no patient to be gentle for, just a cooling corpse.

And so he ripped and tore until he could wrap his mouth around each little neck, a total of three. When he felt no more of the doomed litter, he stopped and took the time to finally glance at the little bodies sitting at his paws, sticky like honey.

He looked, and saw with rising despair, that they didn't look like kits at all. He could hear the rain pounding outside through the ringing in his ears, a thundering roar.

As he stared at those things that were not quite kits, those vague lumps of wet fur and teeth, Flaildrizzle wailed. Distantly, some raw part of him, carved open like the body before him, realizes it was all for nothing.

happy adulting, goosespots! this one took awhile but it was because of the new shading style, background cats, and more.. there will be minor stylistic changes past this moon to make cats look more expressive and uh cooler yay

We used to live peacefully in the Al-Shuja’iya neighborhood, in a house we built just a week before the war began. I worked as a farmer and owned a large chicken farm that provided for my family.

Then the war came and destroyed everything. Our home was reduced to ashes, and our chicken farm was obliterated. We lost our home, our livelihood, and even our basic rights. We've been forced to move from place to place in northern Gaza, simply trying to survive.

The terror we feel as we flee from heavy bombardment is unbearable. The sound of explosions around us, the constant fear as we navigate through the rubble of destroyed homes searching for safety and food, haunts us every day.
