Colonialism is not a machine capable of thinking, a body endowed with reason. It is naked violence and only gives in when confronted with greater violence.
The Wretched of the Earth by Frantz Fanon
Supreme court came down with two earth-shattering decisions this morning:
Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo allows courts to make decisions that used to be the job of federal agencies.
If the FDA says hormone treatments are safe, the court can now say "mmm, nah" and ban those treatments.
The court can ban mifepristone or miscarriage care contrary to medical experts.
The court can lower requirements by the EPA that regulates climate change.
The court can overrule trade rules by the FTC.
The court could require less safety regulation on airplanes.
And much much more!!
This is very very bad, and the way to solve this problem is by voting for Joe Biden so that he can replace Thomas and Alito when they die. If you care about marginalized communities, PLEASE vote.
City of Grant Pass v. Johnson says that criminalizing/fining people for sleeping outside (aka being homeless) isn't cruel and unusual punishment. It will punish people of color and disabled people disproportionately.
On my knees begging you to vote for Joe Biden. You cannot sit this one out. Activism is not tweeting or blogging. You are not helping by not exercising your right to vote, a right that can and will be taken from you if Joe Biden is not reelected.
Edit: they also dismissed some charges against January 6 defendants but quite frankly that is not as important, even though that's what everyone is freaking out about.
I'm sorry but it was too good to disable RBs for so I'll take this hit personally

Chef Donolon’s Jubilee Cake (ESO anniversary)
Guess what, it’s my birthday, so I’m gifting you all with a special recipe today (how perfect is it that this year my birthday is on a Friday)! Naturally I’ve got to do what I do every year, and bake myself a cake! Well now, it’s not often you see a fancy cake of such proportions anywhere in Tamriel, but when it’s time to pull out all the stops you can guarantee that Chef Donolon’s recipes have you covered! And of course to mark my reaching a quarter of a century old, nothing less than the classic Jubilee Cake will do. Best of all? It’s gluten free for my coeliac friends!
I gained much inspiration in pastry making from the famous book, Donolon Bakes, and this Jubilee Cake is always a guaranteed hit with all folks old and young. Of course, the secret recipe for this lies with the Chef’s Charmed Mixing Bowl, which I don’t have (and neither do you, most likely), so after lots of experimenting I finally came up with what I hope is a passable replica of the real deal! Celebrate my birthday with me and share a slice!
You will need: Cake 100g plain unsweetened cocoa powder 250g fine ground almond meal 300 ml olive oil 250ml hot water 6 eggs 4 tsp vanilla extract 200g caster sugar 1 tsp baking soda Pinch of salt
Frosting 3 cups heavy cream 1 ½ packets (375g) cream cheese, softened 1 cup caster sugar 1 tsp vanilla essence 1 tsp almond essence Sliced almonds Handful of strawberries, halved Handful of blueberries
Method: Preheat your oven to 170C/325F. Grease two medium springform baking tins well with oil.
In a bowl, sift the cocoa powder and add the hot water, until it is a runny liquid. Add the vanilla essence and stir through.
Whisk the eggs, olive oil, and sugar together until the mixture is fluffy, then add the cocoa mixture. Whisk again until throughly blended.
Add the almond meal, salt, and baking soda, and beat it all together until a smooth even batter has formed. Pour the batter half and half into the two tins, and bake for 45 minutes. Leave for 15 minutes and run a knife around the edges of the tin before releasing the cakes. Leave them to cool on a wire rack.
For the icing, use an electric whisk to beat the cream and cream cheese and until mixed through and stiff peaks have formed. Add the sugar, vanilla and almond essences, and whisk until all the ingredients are well combined.
Spread half the frosting on the surface of the first cake, then stack the next cake on top. Cover with the remaining frosting, then decorate generously with almond slices and berries.
did i do this meme right
Not my usual content, but I’m from the UK and I feel like I should be speaking up on what’s going on right now. Idk how much of the news is getting out to the rest of the world other than general outrage but here’s a breakdown of what’s been going on in my country. Updated 21/09/2022. If anything is missing please send me an ask and I’ll add it after fact-checking. I’ll try to update when I can TW: racism, sexual assault, child abuse, rape, terminal illness, incest, murder, pedophilia.

There's an EU initiative going on right now that essentially boils down to wanting to force videogame publishers with paid games and/or games with paid elements such as DLC, expansions and microtransactions to leave said games in a playable state after they end support, or in simpler terms, make them stop killing games.
A "playable state" would be something like an offline mode for previously always online titles, or the ability for people to host their own servers where reasonably possible just to name some examples.
I don't think I need to tell anyone that having something you paid for being taken from you is bad, which is a thing that routinely happens with live service and other always online games with a notable recent example being The Crew which is now permanently unplayable.
Any EU citizen is eligible to sign the initiative, but only once and if you mess up that's it. You can find it here. (https://citizens-initiative.europa.eu/initiatives/details/2024/000007_en)
Even if you're not European or you signed it already, you can share this initiative with anyone who is, even if they don't care about videogames specifically because this needs a million signatures and there is different thresholds that need to be met for each EU country for their votes to even count and could also be a precedent for other similar practices like when Sony removed a bunch of Discovery TV content people paid for.
