nothinggg better than torturing an emotionally repressed character until every single trauma they've ever refused to process starts spilling uncontrollably out of the cracks. like a matryoshka doll situation of repressed trauma and baby you better believe i'm going in there with a hammer

love when characters are so entrenched in their own self loathing that they believe themselves to have some inherent trait that causes them to fuck everything up rather than it being a result of them never trying bc they assume they're going to fail anyway

I'm anxious about the JD&Hickory drama about to unfold but the thing I actually can't stop thinking about is that we're about to find out that Cooper found his long lost family which includes... a brother!

I mean JD is gonna be happy for him but... ouch! Talk about others living your dream am I right?

Might just be a little jab to John Dory’s already aching heart! Cooper living out the dream… These next few chapters might be a bit hard on our boy.

Honestly I think one of the best things about your writing is how you do tend to force jd to suffer through the worst kind of torture. Actually having to talk through his emotions.

Like in my head I have this fun little idea of some secret potion being used and it showing his brothers what jd sees and thinks (in kinda like a body swap way). And boom someone sees what he sees and is like ‘uh jd wtf’

But I am very excited to see how he’s going to have to talk about it! It’s going to be agonizing for him and I can only hope he figures out the right words to do it.

Ahhhh right?! Like give this man the WORST mental torture, but the hardest thing is making him ACTUALLY talk about it!

Ooooo and I do like your idea! Something like that, or maybe like a Truth Serum Cloudguy sneaks into his drink, and he just starts spewing out a bunch of feelings he’s kept on lock for 20 years?! I love it, give me fourteen of them right now!!!

But I’m so glad you’re liking the story! It’ll defo be agonizing for him, so I wonder to what point he’ll have to be pushed to actually start talking about his feelings?! Ooooooo

So I’m sure that hickory is going to stick around even after TWT is wrapped up especially since the endgame is that jd and him are going to be partners. How do you think hickory would react to meeting his partner other brothers ( Bruce, Clay and Floyd) and their most likely poor treatment/ low opinion of him?

Ooooo good question! I won’t give too much away, just because spoilers, but I’ll do what I can!

Hickory would defo be someone who’s protective of his partner… To an extent. On one hand, he strikes me as someone who’s very aware of his partner’s boundaries, both with him, and the people he knows. And he’ll be right there if someone crosses it.

But on the other hand, he’s respectful of JD, and his family. He wouldn’t want to overstep in defending him, but at the same time, he wouldn’t tolerate anyone speaking badly of him, including his brothers.

But at the end of the day, his main goal would be John Dory, and how he’s feeling in that moment. Similar to JD, Hickory is very cued in to subtle body language. He would know when to step up, versus maybe just removing him from the situation. And any defense directed out towards his brothers would be completely collected and respectful, with no angry words just being thrown around.

Just my thoughts, anyways, we’ll see how it goes!

I don’t know why his character just CLICKED for me. Maybe it’s the older sibling perfectionism in me that I’m just like yes, that man… He is me. Let’s make him suffer😂

But truly, I just love writing him, and I love writing angst, so… RIP to that man, his fault for being so DAMN LIKEABLE. Plus like, he just has SO much angst potential, I can’t help it😂

I binge-read "Great Decisions," and now I'm all caught up! So...Hickory and JD, huh?

Hickory and JD!!!

Defo going to be a very slow build relationship, our boy JD doesn’t open up very easily. But I think this is so important for his character growth, having an outside perspective like Hickory! Not just as an eventual love interest, but as a friend, one he desperately needs. I’m really excited to write how their relationship grows, and how it’ll affect JD’s life!

He knew JD before the entirety of BroZone. Before it took apart their family because of the box JD forced everyone into in order to be perfect.

I don’t! But I’d like to, at some point, make some drawings of some of the original characters in “Great Decisions”! But I can at least give you a description of them!!!

Birch: A light green troll with freckles, and wavy yellow hair. Typically seen wearing multicolored headbands to hold back his hair while he works, and long, blue joggers.

Sprig: A light green troll with darker green hair, typically with bright flowers woven into it. Usually seen wearing a loose, sparkly white vest, and light blue shorts.

Good questions, considering Branch seems to despise his brother in this story. The answer?

Because he could never truly hate them. And still misses them.

As much as he emotionally distances himself from his brothers and everything about them, they’re still his brothers. And a part of him still misses them, still yearns to see them again, for them to come home. It’s a part of him he tries very hard to ignore.

But he can’t take off the vest. Floyd told him to wear it whenever he missed them. And he still does.

As for VivaDory how will she treat him as an adopted brother, because in fact he became the son of Peppy 🥹🫶 It seems to me that they really become friends 🫂🤲 (Thanks for the response to ao3)

I love thinking Viva and JD become good friends, and he defo sees her as a sort of “sister” eventually! They have so many similarities, and their dynamics are just so *MWAH* beautiful! The two eldest siblings with hella trauma, I love them😭

If John Dory, Branch, Poppy, and Rhonda are on the raft with Hickory, then I’m gonna assume that it’s only a matter of time until Chaz the Smooth Jazz Troll makes his “smooth” debut.

Oho, and “debut” he will! Really excited for the next chapter, it’ll be fun😈

Wait will Branch know about what happened to Clay during the escape? Possibly before the reunion, Peppy talking about Viva and Clay or if John tells him about it or it accidentally slips out about the tunnel cave in. Like not only was Clay at the tree but also that he ran back to look for him and grandma.

He… kinda knows? Ish.

What Branch knows is that Clay had stayed at the Troll Tree, and went missing in the tunnels. And he hasn’t questioned it further. I think deep down… He doesn’t want to know. The less he knows about his brothers, and their leaving/disappearance, the more he can almost emotionally sperate himself from them.

As for whether or not he’ll know before the third movie… We’ll have to wait and see!!!

What are the running from? My guess, Mr. Dinkles. That man is terrifying!!! Also, can’t believe I’ve never drawn Poppy before! I had so much fun!

Also also, kept thinking of the theme song from “Star vs. The Forces of Evil” while I drew this. I think it just fits!

So, just to clarify, Hickory is not a centaur like the other country trolls. So is more of a Satyr troll, or he is centaur but goat features. Using @sandflakedraws Hickory design an example of a Satyr troll
