New term: Knighinic!

Pronunciation and image ID help needed!

Before we start I must state this is a lesbian exclusive label! Do not use unless you are lesbian of some kind.

Knighinic is connected to knights/knighthood, knight imagery, knight aesthetics, or an unexplained connection to the feeling of being a knight. Someone who is knighinic can feel heavy ties to serving, protecting, and defending those who are less fortunate. They exude knightly energy by being chivalrous, righteous, loyal, dependable, honorable, and humble, as those are qualities a good knight should possess.

A knighinic lesbian is willing to serve and protect their lover the same way a knight would their rulers. They devote themselves entirely to their partners, feeling as though they'd go to battle for them.

The colors were inspired by art of knights and the blue butch flag, so they don't really mean anything.

Osteoarthritis/OA + Rheumatoid/RA

Osteoarthritis(left) <- a flag for those with osteoarthritis, a form of arthritis where the cartilage in joints begins to break down causing mobility issues, pain and so on.

Rheumatoid(right) <- a flag for those with Rheumatoid Arthritis, a form of arthritis where the body's immune system attacks healthy cells in the joints causing pain, inflammation, mobility issues and so on.

Psoriatic/PsA + Fibromyalgia

Psoriatic(left) <- a flag for those with psoriatic arthritis, a form of arthritis where the skin develops rashes. this effects the skin and nails, causing large red rashes and pitted nails.

Fibromyalgia(right) <- a flag for those with fibromyalgia, where the body has pain, soreness and tiredness all throughout, causing sleep issues and heightened sensitivity.

admasculine: transitioning towards masculinity

adfeminine: transitioning towards femininity

these are meant to be slightly more inclusive than ‘transmasculine’ and ‘transfeminine’. who wouldn’t feel included by trans-? why do we need ad-? i’m glad you ask! here are some examples:

an AFAB bigender person who has been on T for a long time and now needs to do the same things as transfeminine people to pass on girl days would be transmasculine but adfeminine

a man in a system who has to dress up the body of his cis woman host when he fronts to feel himself would be admasculine

a trans woman would be adfeminine, because it’s an umbrella term that transfeminine falls under

a cis man with kallman’s syndrome who chooses to take T might be admasculine

an AFAB nonbinary femme might call themselves adfeminine because they feel like they’re transitioning into a different kind of femininity than the heteronormative role they were assigned at birth

a butch woman who transitions but wants to avoid the connotations of transmasculine might feel more comfortable calling herself admasculine

a woman in a system who’s transfeminine inworld but fronts into an AFAB body would be adfeminine

an intersex person who has undergone medical intervention but doesn’t consider themselves trans might talk about their experiences instead as an adgender person

The 2024 Gender Census is now open!

The 11th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 13th June 2024.

It’s short and easy, about 5 minutes probably.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.

If you think you might have friends and followers who’d be interested, please do reblog this blog post, and share the survey URL by email or at AFK social groups or on other social networks. Every share is extremely helpful - it’s what helped us get 40,000 responses last year.

People who need their aids in daily life. People who have extreme fluctuating emotions. People with paraphilias. People with dissociative disorders. Psychotic people. People who have different modes of eating, excreting, having sex, etc. Homeless people. People who wear diapers. People who have violent urges/thoughts. People who you think are "dangerous". People who use drugs. People who need medication to survive and live. People with physical deformities. People who have delusions. People who struggle with feeding themselves, cleaning, working, etc.

If you think any of these factors make someone "abusive", you are ableist. Abusers are abusive. None of the above things make someone an abuser.

Just got back from a pain specialist and I'm vibrating with happiness because they actually listened and gave me a diagnosis that actually describes what I'm experiencing. It feels so amazing to be listened to by doctors knowing that they could have easily blown me off.

It makes me think of all the people who still struggle with getting the right diagnosis, or even a diagnosis at all. I know it seems like a never ending battle with assholes who won't listen but please don't back down. Don't let them ruin your quality of life just because they think they know better and have a fancy degree. It does get better, and eventually you will find peace in a diagnosis with medication or accommodations. Just know you'll always have lil ole me in your corner rooting for you!
