I also think it would be beneficial for us to keep in mind that there is no 'main character' in the Life Series.

It's fully understandable and valid that not every person can watch every pov, obviously I don't expect them to. And it's natural that, if you're only watching some pov's, your analysis of the series will be colored through the lens of that person's perspective.

But sometimes I do feel like we lose a lot of nuance and important characterization when we let the most popular perspectives define the story. Very often I see certain characters glossed over, defined by one act that happened to be important in a more popular pov, or outright demonized in anon. Which I think is a shame.

The Life Series is a really interesting story because, being a series where every person records and uploads the same amount of content at the same time, every single person has a full and expansive perspective just like whatever pov you happen to watch.

And sometimes when I see people treat certain characters like an irrelevant side note or like a villain, I feel the need to point out that each of them has just as much of a story, complete with complex trauma and relationships and motivations, as anyone else, and I think sometimes general fanon ideas lose that nuance and layered storytelling by centering their characterization of characters from the perspective of the most popular pov's rather than from that characters own perspective.

False: What is th--this isn't allowed, this isn't Hermitcraft, what's happenin'. Ren: He's working on stamps for Misadventures, I think is what he's doing. And uh--(False laughs) He's like, he's such a ridiculously talented person. Like, he can do art (Martyn aws), he can do it all False: He can. Martyn: Cute-- False: But no one tell him that, but he can. Ren: Jimmy's on Hermitcraft--Jimmy's doing some weird stuff too, he's on Hermitcraft right now-- Martyn: Cute. Cuties. Very cute.
