Broke: I can’t imagine Percy Jackson as blonde. It just doesn’t fit his character.

Woke: Percy having blonde hair opens the door for a meta joke like Annabeth saying he’s the reason the dumb blonde stereotype exists, which fits perfectly with their early stage relationship. Also, surfer vibes.

Bespoke: Percy having blonde hair perfectly encapsulates his character because blonde hair does a thing where it significantly darkens as time passes, which is a direct parallel to how Percy gets “darker” as time passes. AND now that Luke has dark hair, Percy going from blonde to brunette will signify him becoming more like Luke, literally starting to look more like him. Like when you touch something gross (even when there's no residue of it on your hands) & it's like your hand feels a surging sensation until you're able to wash it?

i hate that i have no volume control. i try so, so hard to reel it in but when im happy, excited, relaxed, comfortable, etc. i talk and laugh loud. it’s as involuntary as laughter. i don’t realize until i get shushed, then i feel like my heart got stomped on. it’s so frustrating because i KNOW it is annoying but can’t seem to help it. getting called on it always takes me from happy to feeling awful in a millisecond

Recently a couple of the autistic kids I work with have inspired me with openly, unapologetically owning it.

Like one kid saying “if I don’t make eye contact it’s because I find that hard and it’s easier to concentrate on what you’re saying if I’m not looking at you.”

And another one asking for clarification of an ambiguous statement to check understanding instead of just hoping for the best.

And one saying “I’m going to stim now, this conversation is hard”

I have so much respect for them for being able to voice those things! It’s inspired me to try harder to do that instead of masking until I meltdown because I’m so scared of how people will react.

i think we should reclaim the phrase “autism won today” from those weird moms and instead use it whenever we decide to buy that fidget toy we’ve been wanting or engage in our special interest(s) a little too much™️ or literally anything else positive about the autistic experience

What an autistic person says: "How long is it going to take?"

What they mean: "I want to know whether to activate my short term waiting mode where I just wait and do nothing else, or activate my long term waiting mode where I occupy my mind with something else. I want to say that such a big youtuber coming out as aroace is such a step forward in representation in general of course, but also specifically by using the rainbow flag and only ever portraying those two identities as unquestionably being part of the LGBTQ+ community in her video, a huge step forward for the general opinion to properly consider us part of the community since it’s unfortunately a “debate”. She really reaffirmed our belonging in the community and that is so impactful.
