Fun Story to Share.
I got my (now 18-year-old) daughter into Ao3 back in 2021. I taught her she should always comment - even if the fic looks old or abandoned or whatever. She did.
Well - she got this email this morning:
The fic was written in 2014 and essentially abandoned.
Bethy read and reviewed in 2021 (and was actually the only person who had commented at all).
Today in 2025 - the final chapter was posted by the author and this was her reply to Bethy’s comment.

character designs vaguely from the 1968 movie because its my favorite, but i also took some inspo from retj (i wanted tybalt's hair to look sorta like tom ross' in the 2010 revival but also szabo p szilveszter because i love him too)
my mom and i 3d printed minecraft swords for mercutio and tybalt. i think that might be my favorite part.
benvolio and mercutio also have pride scarves because i said so (and because their necks wont stay up otherwise)

Hullo I'm back
just the fact that i fully believe that this has happened more than once. Not specifically halloween but like one of them not being able to go out because either of stans stupud parents, or kyles only slightly less stupid parents, and them phisically needed the other to hang out with them, so they just brung their ipad device to make it seem like the other is there in person. The other basically experiencing it for themselves. Randys actually right in that one ep, i bet most of south park have a running bet of how long it takes for them to get together, because this is one of many times they have such emotional attachment issues. I bet the citizens of south park are SICK AND TIRED of these boys saying their just friends when they pull shit like this all the time.

it's absolutely soul crushing to share a piece of media with someone who doesn't appreciate it. i often find it difficult to connect with my younger brother without having shared media to discuss. so I finally showed him my favorite movie, dead poets society of course, and his reaction was to call Neil stupid and say that the overall film was "ok, kinda funny sometimes". meanwhile I had cried twice and was shaking and sobbing.
it's ok. he's not an artist. it didn't move him the way it moved me and it doesn't have to. and yet I find myself disappointed and upset that he'll never want to "carpe diem" or suck the marrow out of life. that he'll never let out a barbaric yawp or be good REALLY good.
