Thinking about Daforge again….

Thinking about later in their life Geordi tells Data to continue to find people and make a new best friend and a new partner once Geordi’s dead so Data can continue being happy.

Thinking about Data responding that it’s statistically unlikely he will ever find someone that will be able to live up to Geordi's standards ever again.

Thinking about even later in their life Data telling starfleet that he will de-activate himself when Geordi dies, so starfleet tries to keep Laforge alive for as long as possible with all the best medical treatments they have, but ultimately, they still can’t beat death in the end.

Thinking about Data grieving so hard he has to remove his emotion chip and setting up his permanent de-activation program.

Thinking about Data thinking of Geordi and replaying every memory and recording he's got of Geordi one last time before it's all gone.

I always love how Geordi is never truly weirded out by anything Data does or specifically if he does something strange when learning human behavior. Everyone else just gives Data this look because their weirded out but Geordi just looks at him and raises an eyebrow, and yeah he could be giving him the look behind his visor as well as the rest of them but I don't think so. He's never weirded out by Data's Data-ness just mildly surprised and questions him like "What do mean Data?" in a gentle voice

I just really love Star Trek

It calms me down. I like it a lot it gives me joy. I like how many episodes there are of it and I can read books if I wanted to. I still have all of deep space nine and voyager to watch and lower decks. I haven’t even finished TOS or TNG. Omg or even started the movies. I love the set design and like I can go into another world one of an earth that has solved world hunger. It gives me hope. I can think about all the possibilities in this world. I love info dumping about it, I love hearing others info-dump about it. I don’t know how to say this but it makes me feel safe. I love watching an episode after class. I love Spock and data. I relate to data a lot. It’s just a good show/ movie franchise. I wish I could share my joy with everyone. I just love Star Trek.

I can even collect so much stuff as well. I love collecting things

I'm also really seeing why everyone's been finding him so relatable, because yes that android really is very relatable there's no debating that

Concept: Garak meeting Data. At first, Garak is curious about this android Julian speaks so highly of, hoping for some delightful literature debate. The moment Data walks into view, however, and Data says, "I am eager to spend my shore leave here on the station" Garak gets distracted by the fact that Data is spending his shore leave in his uniform. Naturally, Garak invites Data to his shop to find him something a little more casual and fashionable to wear, but that proves an impossible challenge: Data simply does not style. Garak can find clothes that suit him, that accentuate his skin tone (and then de-accentuate it when Data requests so in an effort to look more human), and he can find styles that suit Data's body type... but none of that changes the fact that Data wears clothes the same way the average person chooses a padd to work with: with no regard for aesthetic whatsoever. Being an android, he has no concept of personal style, and is equally comfortable working clothed or nude, and only wears clothes because of social expectation. Therefore, no matter what Garak styles him in, it ends up looking bland and drab, because Data never really feels the clothes he wears or takes pride in the cut or the make or how it looks on him or any of it.

Finally, Data finds something that he wants to wear, and worse, it's not even from his shop (but then, of course not: Garak would die before allowing a fashion monstrosity like that to come into existence with his own hands). The item of clothing in question: The most hideous cat-print breezy beach shirt Garak has even seen, in a horrid kitchen wall yellow that puts all of Julian's fashion crimes to shame. And then, to top it all off, the yellow brings out Data's eyes nicely, and he enjoys wearing it because the cat on the print reminds him of Spot... which means he looks good in it.

Garak visits sickbay with several fractured knuckles on his right hand, and Julian jokingly asks: "Did you punch a bulkhead?" Garak laughs, but Miles mentions having to repair an odd fist-shaped dent in the bulkhead in Garak's shop, and makes the same joking remark: "I didn't take Garak for a punching a bulkhead kind of guy, but I don't know how else it could have happened."

Suddenly, his joke doesn't seem like much of a joke.

One of the cutest and most underrated aspects of TNG is the fact that in any given scene Data is copying his friends’ posture and mannerisms

Headcanon: The TNG crew at the pool!

Picard is sitting on a sunchair with a book. All he requires is to sit alone and read his book. He is wearing Beverly’s coral pink sunglasses because he didn’t bring any sunglasses of his own and is tired of squinting in order to read.

Riker and Deanna are lovingly chatting in the hot tub together with ice cream. Riker has a strawberry fruit popsicle and Deanna has a fudge-filled Drumstick.

Geordi is trying to teach Data classic childhood pool games like Marco Polo and Sharks and Minnows. Data is discouraged that he can’t play because he just sinks to the bottom of the pool and can’t stay afloat, so Geordi plays volleyball with him instead. (Data is wearing a big floppy sun hat because Beverly and Deanna are wearing one)

Worf is also sitting on a sunchair with the Captain but he is just watching everyone else do their thing because “swimming is too much like bathing” (Season 1, Episode 25 reference)

Beverly and Wesley swim for a good long while but now have joined Geordi and Data’s volleyball game, and Wesley has the classic post-swim cuisine of a turkey sandwich with the chips on it

Headcanon: The TNG crew playing mini golf.

Picard shoots with small swings and looks very tense the whole time (there are children everywhere)

Riker swings really hard but usually gets the ball in on the 2nd or 3rd try. He is mogging the whole time.

Deanna is surprisingly very good and does the Street Fighter 2 Chun Li win emote when she gets a hole in one

Data calculates the exact trajectory of the course and hits the ball at the perfect angle. He gets a hole in one every time. He fist bumps Geordi after every time because “it’s what the humans do”

Worf is terrible at golf. He hits the ball too hard and is leaving dents in the club. Sometimes he undercompensates by hitting it too softly.

Beverly and Wesley are equally fine, Beverly directing Wesley in how to play. Wesley mopes a bit after every miss.

Geordi swings a little too hard because the hole is a little hard to see. Data sometimes does the ‘stand behind and puts his hands on Geordi’s and helps him swing’.

In the TNG episode “Force of Nature”, Data asks Geordi for cat-training advice. Geordi mentions that his sister trained her cat by putting tuna in her blouse to get it to jump into her arms. Now I’m picturing Data in his quarters wearing a pretty women’s blouse with tuna in it being like “Spot. I have put the tuna in my blouse. Please comply.” I need it bro

Picard is having the most senior of senior moments.

Picard experiencing emotional distress over events that happened years ago is me.

Wesley is an unappreciated genius. They should just let this kid run the ship at this point.

Thoughts:

Data is in a state of constant confusion and that is honestly so relatable.

Data can solve some of the most difficult equations in seconds... the solution to the Chinese finger trap eludes him.
