because I'm a dork and randomly started hyperfixating again, I've spent like an hour and a half working on my OL:2 MC's toyhouse profile.
Yes I have both work and class today. No there is not a better use of my time.
Got burned out from Goretober already lmao, so now I'm working on a personal side project to help me cope with life until my Zoloft kicks in/lh Glad to be working on animation stuff again but I really should have been doing more traditional practice sessions before attempting something this complicated but fuck it, we ball.

I haven't been in much of a mood to draw recently, but I'm finally getting my motivation back and was able to finish this! I started this like, way too long ago lol.
Don't make me get the shirt. This was pretty much the vibe of that one scene in the public demo where where you grab both of their sleeves while walking to school.

Warned ya that I was hyper fixating >:3 I mainly used the portrait on the Steam store page as a reference (the Step 3 one) and mixed and matched some elements like the choker. I'm pretty sure I misinterpreted a small ponytail as a bun, but oh well. This was pretty good rendering practice nonetheless.

just curious on if theres any info you can give me on edwins interactions with other characters? like how do they act with everyone and are there any people who they act differently around?
Sorry! I've been preoccupied lately.
Edwin is usually a very shy person, he wants to get along with everyone but he's hesitant to step forward if that makes sense. I've had this idea in my head that if he likes or is comfortable with someone he'll show it by giving them things. (If that's confusing think of it as similar to a crow giving trinkets LMAO he'll just start sharing things, like snacks, toys, a cool rock, etc.)
With Tamarack he'd be more playful. Since she tends to just charge forward, I think he'd be drawn into the energy of it as a kid. She could probably talk him into trouble if she wanted. They often explore the forest together and play pretend.
With Qiu I think he's the most relaxed and comfortable (other than his mom ofc). I think Qiu's confidence with handling other people would help him feel less anxious, and in turn Edwin checks in on Qiu a lot too. I like to think they trade notes a lot in and out of class since Winnie doesn't really talk. Anywhere between full sheets of conversation and just silly doodles.
With Ren he didn't like her at first, purely because Ren didn't like Tamarack and that was his bestie. As things calm down between those two though, Edwin finds he actually really likes hanging out with her (and the rest of the boy's club). I can't think of anything specific tho..
With Baxter pretty similar to Ren, except he looks up to Baxter. He thought he was kinda of intimidating at first then thought he was really cool.

Hmmmmmmmmmm! I think he'd the most comfortable in his home, or maybe in Qiu's secret hideout since there's not likely to be anyone around. Basically anywhere quiet and comfy.
As for people it'd be his mum mostly, and Tama and Qiu when he's more comfortable with them. By step 2 maybe even the rest of the boys club. All in all while he gains more confidence he stays on the quiet side throughout his entire life.
I have both too many thoughts on this and none at all-
Cadence Drew (OLBA): I can't imagine in step 1 he did any after school activities, he was very standoffish and would rather spend more time on the beach. From step 2 onwards though he took guitar lessons! And probably some kind of art class/club, he gets very into pottery. In my highschool the art teacher used to let us hang out in the art room during lunch, so I like to imagine that's where Cadence spent most of his time. (Also yes, haha his last name is Drew and he became an artist)
Edwin 'Winnie' Porter: Edwin loves space, if he spoke he could rant about it for literal hours. He's a lil nerd. So I'd imagine he takes some kind of science club, or creative writing. He likes reading about myths and legends (especially if they're connected to constellations), so I think he'd enjoy getting to write his own. I don't know what clubs the game is going to offer, so I haven't made any solid decisions for him yet.

I know it's not possible in game (or at I'm p sure it isn't) but I think it'd be so freaking cute if your mc and Cove could accidentally propose at the same time-

Cove's ring looks like a wave or a dolphin fin. While Cadence's ring is fairly simple (as he would prefer) with his favourite gem: Pearl. :)

Day 5- Comfort
I like to think on days when dysphoria hits Qiu the hardest the cul-de-sac trio hide away in his fort together. And probably the rest of the boys' club when possible. This was part of a short comic, but I don't have the energy to finish it rn. I'll post the full thing later on.

"Look! A shooting star!"
Winnie scrambled up next to Tamarack to see where she was pointing.
Qiu chuckled as he watched them, it wasn't often that they got to see Winnie so excited. He nudged them after a bout of awed silence.
"What are you going to wish for?"
Tamarack immediately began shouting different things that she wanted, but Winnie stayed silent. A different kind of silence then his usual, his face was scrunched up in thought and he had a fist pressed to his chin.
This was serious business.
"I..." Winnie began softly, voice barely above a whisper. Arms wrapped tightly around his stuffed sheep for comfort.
Qiu leaned closer eagerly to hear him better. This was the first time he'd ever heard Winnie speak; it was important that he heard everything!
Winnie looked away to escape their expectant eyes, "I just wanna be friends..."
Qiu frowned in confusion.
"Whaaaaatttttt?!" Tamarack echoed his confusion loudly. "But-! We are already friends!"
"Yeah," he agreed earnestly as he looked out the window for the star. It was gone. "Why'd you wish for something you already had?"
Winnie shrugged in answer, but he had a shy, pleased smile on his face.
Winnie and his mum! <3 She loves listening to him rant like a dork.

Day 3- Memories
After Qiu and Tamarack began drifting apart, Tamma starts questioning her place with Edwin. As if he'd would lose his best friend that easily, after all they made a promise! Maybe it feels childish now, but Tamarack would always have a place in his life.
(My first ever comic page, the pacing feels a little weird to me, but I didn't feel like redrawing anything lol)

Day 2- Sick days
---------- Decided to try my hand at writing a small story to go with this. (Def wasn't supposed to just be a sentence and spiraled from there)
Edwin didn't care if he sounded like a baby as he insisted on sleeping on the couch, he didn't want to leave his mum's side. He felt awful, miserable even, and his head spun with each move he made. Even worse, he knew that he was keeping his mum from work.
He sniffled miserably from his spot on the couch, rubbing a fist over his heavy eyes.
"Oh, baby..." Opal cooed to him and Edwin hiccupped with a suppressed sob.
His mum gently maneuvered him to sit up and the small boy protested before realizing with a start that Opal was sitting down next to him. Edwin hiccupped again and draped himself over his mum's lap. One hand clutching at her leg as if to keep her there.
Opal gave a soft laugh, and smoothed a hand through his messy curls, "I'm here, Winnie..."
"I'm sorry," he croaked in a whisper.
"Don't be." She insisted gently, "it's no trouble at all to stay home with you."
