I was so happy when I found this review at an antique store in Batlimore. It was like the connection has to be made.
REX NETTLEFORD I love him so much, he is a Caribbean thinker who inspires me enormously.
Coeur tambour, Scholastique Mukasonga
The cover image of this book is beautiful. This luminous woman holds a bowl, bearing the colors of the moon that gives its beauty to the early morning sun, thus revealing the splendor of sacred objects. When the drum beats, the story of Africa beats. It is first the story of Queen Kitami then that of Prisca, a little girl from a village in Rwanda, whose myth resonates in the Caribbean and America. This book seems magical to me, and I’m just looking forward to reading it, it fits perfectly into my research themes.
Presentation: the name of my blog comes from the term Tibonanj( Ti-Bon-Ange) which refers in the culture of Haitian vodoun to one of the two parts of the soul. Tibonanj, Ti bon ange = Good Little Angel is the part of the soul that guides us to the most just and personal way of life. It is a personalization of the higher self as an awakened part of the soul. It can also travel outside the body during sleep or trances. the Gwobonanj (Gros-Bon-Ange) = Big Good Angel, is the part of the soul that represents the vital force. It is embodied from birth. It is similar to the Àṣẹ, the divine breath, in the Yoruba civilization. It leaves the body only at the moment of death when it returns to the Gran Met, place where resides the vital force, which is perceived as a basin. Of Haitian origin, I travel and explore the world. My favorite region is the Caribbean and I dream of visiting all these islands. I am a PhD student in Cultural History and an artist/designer. My vision is that of a future Caribbean where African knowledge ( whether languages, stories, tangible and intangible production, ancient or recent )are disseminated, easily accessible and used by all. For me, All these resources allow an opening to social, human, scientific and economic inventiveness through the central point that is culture. I look forward to sharing more, all in passion and love. My aesthetic is that of Caribbean luxury, Academics vibe, Artefacts, Painting, Sculpture, Old comics and Island jazz, Funk, Reggae philosophy, Ancestral spirituality, and Green nature.
Welcome to my blog, Today I have had a strong desire to create a space where I can share my passion for Afro-diasporic cultural history, its critical reflection and cultural theories. I would also like to share my passion for art that is inspired by this world. I hope to build a community with which to exchange, discuss and learn.

Preeclampsia is a hypertensive disorder of pregnancy, emerging typically after the 20th week of gestation. It is distinguished by elevated blood pressure and potential multisystem involvement, most frequently affecting renal and hepatic functions. This condition presents significant risks for maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality, necessitating keen monitoring, timely diagnosis, and appropriate management to ensure favorable outcomes for both mother and child.
Clinical Criteria: The diagnosis of preeclampsia is confirmed when hypertension develops after 20 weeks of gestation in a previously normotensive woman, accompanied by one or more of the following indicators of organ dysfunction:
Proteinuria: Detection of protein in the urine, suggestive of renal impairment.
Renal Impairment: Other clinical indicators of compromised kidney function, such as increased serum creatinine.
Thrombocytopenia: A platelet count less than 100,000/microliter, indicative of platelet consumption or bone marrow suppression.
Hepatic Dysfunction: Elevated liver transaminases twice the normal concentration, reflecting hepatic injury.
Pulmonary Edema: Accumulation of fluid in the lungs, presenting as shortness of breath and hypoxemia.
Neurological Symptoms: New-onset, persistent headaches unresponsive to analgesics, or visual disturbances such as scotomata or blurred vision.
Blood Pressure Measurement: Blood pressure assessment in pregnancy involves measuring both systolic and diastolic pressures:
Systolic Pressure: A reading of 140 mm Hg or higher.
Diastolic Pressure: A reading of 90 mm Hg or higher.
For diagnostic confirmation, a second elevated reading taken at least four hours after the initial measurement is recommended.
Additional Diagnostic Tests: Upon suspicion of preeclampsia, a comprehensive evaluation is warranted, including:
Blood Tests: To assess liver enzymes, kidney function, and platelet count.
Urine Analysis: Either a 24-hour urine collection or a spot urine protein-to-creatinine ratio to evaluate protein excretion and renal function.
Fetal Ultrasound: Regular monitoring of fetal growth and amniotic fluid volume to assess intrauterine conditions.
Nonstress Test and Biophysical Profile: To evaluate fetal well-being through heart rate monitoring and ultrasound assessment of fetal movements, muscle tone, breathing, and amniotic fluid volume.
Primary Management: The primary goal in managing preeclampsia is to balance prolonging the pregnancy to allow for fetal maturation with the risks posed to maternal and fetal health. This often involves a combination of close monitoring and medical interventions to control blood pressure and prevent complications.
Management of Mild Preeclampsia:
Outpatient Monitoring: Regular prenatal visits to monitor blood pressure, symptoms, and fetal health.
Home Monitoring: Daily self-monitoring of blood pressure and symptom tracking to detect any signs of disease progression.
Management of Severe Preeclampsia:
Hospitalization: For intensive monitoring of maternal and fetal well-being. This includes frequent blood pressure checks, laboratory tests, and fetal monitoring.
Pharmacotherapy:
Antihypertensive Medications: Such as labetalol, nifedipine, or methyldopa to control blood pressure.
Anticonvulsants: Magnesium sulfate is the drug of choice to prevent eclamptic seizures.
Corticosteroids: Administered to enhance fetal lung maturity if preterm delivery is anticipated.
Timing and Method of Delivery:
Delivery Timing: The timing of delivery is critical and depends on the severity of the condition, gestational age, and the health of both mother and fetus.
Mild Preeclampsia: Delivery is generally recommended after 37 weeks of gestation.
Severe Preeclampsia: May necessitate delivery before 37 weeks to prevent serious maternal and fetal complications.
2. Method of Delivery: Decided based on clinical factors, with vaginal delivery preferred if conditions allow. However, a cesarean section may be necessary for severe cases or if labor induction fails.
Monitoring and Follow-Up: Postpartum monitoring is crucial as preeclampsia can persist or even develop after delivery, known as postpartum preeclampsia. This involves:
Close Monitoring: Regular assessment of blood pressure and symptoms in the immediate postpartum period.
Patient Education: Informing patients about the signs and symptoms of postpartum preeclampsia, such as severe headaches, visual changes, epigastric pain, and nausea or vomiting, and advising them on when to seek urgent medical care.
Long-Term Follow-Up: Regular follow-up visits to monitor blood pressure and assess for potential long-term cardiovascular and renal implications of preeclampsia.

In the realm of academia, pursuing advanced degrees such as a Master’s or a PhD involves rigorous research and scholarly endeavors. Central to this academic journey are the culminating projects — the Master’s thesis and the PhD dissertation. While often used interchangeably, these two academic works possess distinct characteristics that set them apart. In this comprehensive discussion, we will major into the differences between a PhD dissertation and a Master’s thesis, exploring various aspects including the depth of research, original contribution to knowledge, duration and intensity of study, evaluation and defense process, as well as career implications and academic prestige.
One of the fundamental disparities between a PhD dissertation and a Master’s thesis lies in the depth of research. A Master’s thesis typically explores a specific topic within a field of study, offering a comprehensive analysis but within a more confined framework. In contrast, a PhD dissertation delves into original research, contributing novel insights or advancing existing knowledge within the chosen discipline. The depth of investigation required for a dissertation is considerably greater, often involving extensive data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
Building upon the notion of originality, a PhD dissertation is expected to make a significant contribution to the body of knowledge within the respective field. It must demonstrate a unique perspective, innovative methodology, or novel findings that add value to the academic discourse. On the other hand, while a Master’s thesis also involves original research, its contribution may be more incremental or focused on synthesizing existing literature rather than forging new paths of inquiry.
Another factor that distinguishes a PhD dissertation from a Master’s thesis is the duration and intensity of study involved. Pursuing a PhD typically entails a more prolonged and immersive engagement with the research topic, spanning several years of dedicated study and inquiry. The process of conducting original research, analyzing data, and drafting a dissertation demands a substantial commitment of time and effort. In contrast, a Master’s thesis can often be completed within a shorter timeframe, typically ranging from one to two years, depending on the program’s requirements.
The evaluation and defense process also differ between a PhD dissertation and a Master’s thesis. For a PhD dissertation, the candidate must present their research findings to a committee of faculty members or experts in the field. This oral defense involves a rigorous examination of the dissertation’s methodology, results, and conclusions, as well as the candidate’s ability to articulate and defend their research. In contrast, while some Master’s programs may require a thesis defense, the level of scrutiny and formality is often less intense compared to a PhD dissertation defense.
Furthermore, the completion of a PhD dissertation carries significant career implications and academic prestige. Attaining a PhD is often regarded as the highest level of academic achievement, opening doors to advanced research positions, teaching opportunities, and leadership roles within academia and industry. A PhD dissertation serves as a hallmark of expertise and scholarly rigor, signaling to the academic community and potential employers the candidate’s ability to conduct independent research at a high level. On the other hand, while a Master’s thesis is a commendable accomplishment in its own right, it may not carry the same weight in terms of career advancement or academic recognition as a PhD dissertation.
In conclusion, the comparison between a PhD dissertation and a Master’s thesis reveals the intricate differences that exist between these two academic endeavors. While both represent significant milestones in academic scholarship, they embody distinct attributes that reflect the depth of research, originality of contribution, and level of academic achievement. Whether seeking thesis vs. dissertation writing help or PhD dissertation assistance, students embarking on these scholarly endeavors can benefit from the guidance and support offered by dissertation writing services.
