Riot grrrl was a punk movement that started in the 90s because people were fed up with the only punk music being made by white boys (the runaways were pretty much the only girl punk band back in the day). Two main bands started riot grrrl, bikini kill and bratmobile, who I'll get into later. The two most important things about riot grrrl were feminism and punk.

The main thing you have to know to start are what music is considered riot grrrl. again we'll get into that later. Right now let's talk about another important part of the riot grrrl community. Zines. A zine is a handmade magazine that was very popular in the riot grrrl community. All the zines I've seen were usually about politics or human rights, but a zine could practically be about anything.

“What music should I listen to if I want to get into Riot Grrrl?”
