Hey everyone!
I felt like sharing the ATLA themed pumpkins my mom and I carved this year!
I did the water tribe one and she did Appa and the fire nation one (our respective elements)
They were really fun to carve and I thought you all might like to see them
Happy spooky season!!!!!
just my oc being a little durp while doing a snowball fight with the avatar
I drew sokka
I couldn't find the exact color of his skin but this is good enough plus I've never used markers like these or paper like this so idk how well it looks for both those
sokka doesnt just like meat. he NEEDS meat. the water tribes are based off the inuit people, who primarily ate meat. you know why? cause they live in the poles. where it's extremely hard to grow plants. so to survive, they eat meat. sokka's so shocked that aang's vegetarian because he wouldn't survive in the south not eating meat. sokka's love of meat is probably more than most people but hey at least he has a reason for it
i genuinely dont think that the fire nation is discriminatory and that the water tribes are insteaf. eg. mai ty lee and azula are some of the most respected people in the fire nation. and two of then arent even benders. they fight better than most. they went to school for this and we see female soldiers/prison guards etc. but then look at the northern water tribe. katara isn't allowed to fight. period. idek but the fire nation is 100% not sexist. i do think that being gay is discouraged but only because it is encouraged to have children to better the nation. and as the most technologically advanced nation, i think they're also the most advanced in thinking. so like my final thoughts: fire nation is not sexist or homophobic, they fully support either but just want more bending/powerful children. water tribes (definitely northern, less so southern) is a bit less accepting of these things/ignorant. nwt is definitely sexist and we also see that sokka has grown up amongst misogyny or whatever. also zuko is gay. btw. just. my boy aint straight. and sokka had his bi awakening in boiling rock (when zuko breathes fire cause ughhhhh) but didnt know it was his bi awakening (sokkas the definition of 'no homo but')

Maylin and Mu are the offsprings of Viper, a member of the Triple Threat Triad and Sing, a police lieutenant. They were born from Sing and when they were 1 week old, they met their father, he was happy to see them.
Until when they were 6 months old, Sing was forced to give her children away to father so Viper would be second command instead of Thornscar Tai. Fourteen years, they were raised by their father and forgot who their mother is.
After Tokuga overthrown their father, and became the new leader of the Triple Threat Triad and eventually killed their father, they left the gang and start a crime of their own.
Three years later, they met lieutenant Sing, they thought she was going to arrest them they prepare to fight until Mako intervene he explained to the twins that Lieutenant Sing is their mother. Mu refuses to believe that and thinks it's a trick, but Maylin insisted on Mako to explained as Mako explained to them that: they been birth by Sing and she gave them to their when they were 6 months old in order for their father to become second command of the gang instead of their uncle ,Tai.
Mu said that they been loyal to their father and triad when he was still second command and leader ever since Tokuga killed him. They left the triad because they don't follow a murderer of the family. They been own ever since.
To their surprise, Sing cried out "My babies!" and said that she very proud of them being strong, brave and independent and said that father raised well.
Mu was more shocked and confused than his sister, and yelled at his mother for being weak and scared then he stormed off. Leaving Sing heartbroken and guilty.
Until Sing sacrifice herself to save Mako from a man-eating sabertooth moose lion, she and the animal drowned in the river until Mako and the twins pulled her out. On her dying breath, she apologizes to her kids for not being there for them and she gave them away to save them from their uncle. She always loves them and happy for being people she and their father always hope to be.
Then she asked them to forgive her and Maylin replied they forgived her. With that she smiles and slowly dies. In the afterlife, she is reunited with her parents and sister, but most importantly She and Viper were finally together; 17 years ago they made a promise that once on their final days they would be in a place where no one will ever part them again and their wish came true.
Maylin and Mu became allies with Mako, every time they looked at the stars knowing their parents would very proud of them.
Could someone please make an au of this?! 🙏🏾
🌊 Katara and Zuko 🔥
For Zutara Week 2023 (Prompts: "Union" and "Flow")
I had originally sketched/planned this for my 4 Ship Challenge, but ultimately swapped these two for, funnily enough, another Water/Fire ship, Wade and Ember xD But I decided to save it for a special occassion, and what occassion more special than the 15th Zutara Week! (Not to mention the trailer for the live-action remake made me had these two in mind again, so, great timing all around x3)
This is my second ever contribution to a Zutara Week, but hopefully it won't be the last, because I really love these two.
I'm really proud of how this turned out, especially the water ^_^
okay, so remember when aang finds out that fire nation soldiers were at the southern air temple and enters the avatar state and the statues' eyes in the air temple sanctuary light up?
and then after that the different avatar temples in the other nations also light up?
so does that happen every time the avatar goes into the avatar state? or only the first time it happens?
so either way, they really should've noticed it sooner, like when aang went glow mode three times before this??
one when he first created the iceberg to protect himself and appa
two when katara cracked the iceberg
and three later in zuko's boat
and even if we consider the first two to be one long extended avatar state like some theories suggest, even then the temples^^ should've lit up two avatar states ago...
First artwork of 2023! I’m really working on improving my painting skills this year and what better way to do it by making some Sokka fanart. 🐺 🪃
In the show and overall by viewers, Hama is not considered a good character. The show insinuates, that Hama is performing revenge on innocent people of the same civilation (the firenation) just as how the soldiers of the firenation kidnapped and enslaved the waterbenders of the southern water tribe. By fans she is mostly viewed as evil and crazy, since she „cursed“ Katara with the ability to bend blood.
But is Hama actually evil?
The more i rewatched the show, the more i understood, that Hamas hatred and actions are actually pretty understandable. Of course i do not defend the kidnapping of innocent civilians but in my opinion, to not relate to Hama, is actually what i would consider barbaric.
Hama had to watch her whole civilisation, her friends, her family and most importantly her culture being slowly but surely erased, by the fire nation until she was the last one remaining and had to surrender.
When hama was arrested, she was prevented free movement, as her limbs were chained so she, nor the others would be capable of bending the water. The cages were above the ground. They were occasionally fed, from afar with little dosages of water, as if they were wild inhumane creatures. She probably was forced to watch her friends die in those cages as well. God knows, how long she was arrested in that Jail, and what else she had to go through.. Only by training on rats, to control them, via bloodbending, she managed to escape.
Of course it was wrong to perform revenge on innocent people, especially if she just could've kidnapped the soldiers of the firenation, but overall - considering what she went through, i can only sympathize with her and eye people suspiciously who can't. Because no one, who experiences the same barbaric and horrific things that hama did, would remain sane. This kind of experience really takes a toll and changes everyone. And i 100% understand Hamas frustration and act of vigilantism.
And the Bloodbending technique - she gave on to Katara - is not a curse, but more a reminder of the torture that the firenation put the water benders through and also a symbol of how powerful water benders really are; because no matter what you truly think of hama as a character, you cannot deny that she is truly a real selftought master of waterbending!
Woo boy I did not expect the love for the Kuruk doodles but it’s certainly a joy! Anyways have some Anatomy studies with the man and a bonus ATLA water spirit OC I made a while back
Assuming that the young woman with the hair loopies is Katara's grandmother Kana and she's around the same age as Hama, I'm going to say that both are in their early-twenties. This is because Kana needed time to emigrate from the Northern Water Tribe. Yue got engaged at 16, and the healer Yagoda thought Katara was old enough to be engaged at 14. Judging by these engagement customs, Kana was probably engaged and then left around 16/17. To give her enough time to cross the world and settle in, I'd say that she and Hama must be around their early 20s.
During "The Puppetmaster", Hama says "the raids started over sixty years ago". Based on this, Hama is in her 80s during the events of this episode.
As she is describing her escape, Hama says she "walked free for the first time in decades". This could mean anything, but given that she hasn't started graying yet, I'm going to say two decades. Making her in her 40s when she first escaped.
I've collected the relevant pieces from the show and discussed them. I truly can't make up my mind on this point, so I'd love to hear what others think. Let me know if I missed anything or if you guys have different interpretations of the evidence.
Here is what is said in the episode:
A merchant explains to a customer that he won't have any ash bananas until next week. The customer then says 'oh right, the full moon'. The merchant then says that he can't lose another two delivery boys to the full moon.
This interaction, to me, can be used to justify that Hama either has or hasn't been kidnapping people in this specific village for a long time:
Kidnapping in the short time interpretation: The merchant looks to be around sixty or slightly older, so he'd have been around when Hama came to the village (if she arrived immediately after escaping in her 40s). Let's assume he's been running this business for that long. If Hama started kidnapping people near immediately, I'd assume the lost delivery boys incidents happened near the beginning of that time. In this case, up to four decades ago. The merchant might not bring up those incidents to a customer who is (two?) decades younger than him and might not remember that incident. Since telling the customer is kinda bad marketing and makes the merchant look irresponsible or reckless. This could imply that these incidents are more recent.
Kidnapping in the long time interpretation: The customer doesn't need to be reminded that the full moon is that night. He knows it instinctively and doesn't need the merchant to connect the dots between the two day journey and the full moon disappearances. This awareness of the moon phases could imply that this has been happening for long enough that people have been habitually paying attention to the moon for a long time.
2. The guy who tells Aang, Sokka, and Toph about Old Man Ding says he's the "only one person who ever saw it and lived".
The word "ever" here implies that this might have been going on for a long time. However, local legends are quickly made and inflated, so the timing might just naturally be exaggerated.
3. Old Man Ding interaction, in which he says, "I'm not ready to get snapped up by any moon monster".
Honestly, I don't know what to make of this. To me, this reads like a semi-recent event, but I don't have anything to really back this up. Apart from maybe Ding saying he's not ready to get snapped up by a moon monster in response to a conversation about his age, which could imply that he was already old when this event happened.
Fun fact: the credits say "old man dig" even though the subtitles and voices clearly say "old man ding" (:
If Hama escaped in her 40s, the earliest she could have gotten to the village was forty years ago. In my opinion, that is a LONG time to be kidnapping people and not get caught. However, she does only have the opportunity to kidnap people once a month, but still that seems like a really long time. This brings me to the part of this that is just me asking questions (so again, please let me know what you think!)
When did Hama start kidnapping people?
Did she go to other villages before she came to the one we see in this episode? If so, did she kidnap anyone in those previous villages (I'd guess yes)? If she was in other villages, was there a point before she started kidnapping people, or did she start immediately (I think it could be interesting if she struggled with it for a bit, then gave into the urge. Or even if the urge didn't appear immediately)?
Did she ever try to go home? If so, did she find that she wasn't able to let go of the need for revenge, and leave again?
Captain: Princess, I'm afraid that the tides will not allow us to pull in before nightfall.
Azula: Do the tides command this ship?
The captain thinking about what happened at the North Pole:
Another magic circle for Avatar the Last Airbender. I’m a huge fan of both Avatar: the last Airbender and Cardcaptors. I’ve always really like Li’s compass for finding the Clow Cards, so I redesigned it to find the next avatar.
WaterBending101
Water Bending Pamphlet
We know that water bending gets stronger at night; Katara says as much at the end of ALTA Book 1. However, the Moon is only in the night sky 50% of the time with the other 50% in the daytime. Since Katara probably has better sleeping habits than me, I’d assume she goes to bed before midnight. Therefore, she would only see the Moon at night about 25% of the time.
It’s a common misconception to think that the Moon only appears at night. In fact, it is more likely for people to see the Moon during the day because people are awake more in the day.
Then why is water bending stronger at night, if the Moon is only there 25% of the time?
The answer is interference from the Sun. We know that water bending and fire bending can interfere with each other in the case of a solar eclipse. The Moon moves in front of the Sun and blocks the “Fire Bending WIFI Signal”. water bending is interfering with fire bending, so it would make sense if it works both ways. Fire and Water are usually considered opposites, so it makes sense that water bending would be weaker during the day and at full strength during the night.
